I plan on having tables like that but big enough for 10 each and lots of elbow room. Personally, I hate it when I feel cramped at a table, so the bigger the better!I plan on having photo 3454455-1

How elegant! Our seating and venue was pretty typical I'd say, no real advice except don't stress about the seating. Most people will be just fine if they have to find a table on their own without assigned seating. That's way less headache for you! And you will pretty much know who will sit with whom and if you plan for say, 8 people at a table, that should give a pretty good idea of your numbers. I stressed WAY too much about seating and then just gave up and said let 'em fend for themselves! No one died, it was fine :)

Here's a pic of our reception:

How elegant Our seating photo 3454544-1 We had the head table at the side of the dance floor and seating on either side. This pic was taken with the DJ booth behind it.

we had a small wedding so we didnt have asigned seats.  i have been to pretty big weddings with well over 100 guests and they had reserved tables for bridal party and let everyone else seat themselves.  those turned out just fine.

if this is a wedding with the ceremony and reception at the same location and there is no cocktail hour, then i highly recommend doing the photography before the wedding.  i have been to way too many weddings were they wanted to keep the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride and that cost them the enjoyment of their own wedding reception.  while they were getting their pics taken the guests had already taken their seats and started eating.  lets face it, you cant just have them waiting for an hour while your pics are taken.  so when the couple did arrive the guests were just about done eating.  that gave them the free time to come up to the bride and grooms table to congratulate them.  leaving the bride and groom hungry because they never got to eat.

have a pro cut your cake.  it may be nice to have someone else take part in your wedding, but only a pro knows how many slices that cake should make.  if you ordered a cake too small for the number of guests betting that some wouldnt eat the cake, then it is really important to have a pro cut the cake.  i was asked years ago to cut the cake at a wedding.  the wedding planner told me to cut the cake really small because the cake was too small.  i followed orders, and they had tons of cake leftover.  the cake pieces could have been cut much larger, but i did what i was asked.  i felt really bad.  having a pro cut the cake insures the pieces of cake will be large enough to enjoy and not too huge to eat.

i had the mc announce before the grand entrance that the bride and groom would be coming around to each table to speak with the guests after the meal.  we wanted to actually eat the meal we planned.

Our venue tables are rectangle because we are getting married at a castle and they just go along with that whole castle theme. I do not plan to put our all together to form one big line though. We will seat 8-10 per table.
