Help...I thought we figured the whole cake thing out. Turns out FI has changed his mind. Now I'm stumpped.

I'm very curious what cake flavors and fillings are favored by you ladies...

Cake: White, Chocolate, Yellow, Spice, Carrot, Marble

Fillings: Rasberries, Strawberries,Lemon, Chocolate Mousse, Vanilla Custard, Cream Cheese

TIA!

hehe I looove yellow or white with plain buttercream - I'm dull. I think from these options, I would go white or yellow (inoffensive!) with hmmm lemon or vanilla custard - again I'm boring!

I LOVE CHOCOLATE! hehe. I feel like white and yellow can taste cheap sometimes. Carrot is gross. I've been pleasantly surprised by spice cake.

That said, I think we're just doing marble. We were surprised at how good it was and the baker said it was the most popular of her flavors. Apparently it's old fashioned? I dunno. It's yum, that's all I care about.

I love chocolate cake 2! I using Cakery Bakery and went with 2 flavors, Mable Cake w/ chocolate mousse and chocolate cake w/ Raspberry Bavarian creme filling. Yum, it's making me hunry :)

If you have layered cake, you can do different flavors on each.

I love marble cake with fudge filling or chocolate bavarian creme filling. It's also really good with fresh strawberries. Yum :)

Ok, so for our own cake I couldn't decide after the tasting... So each of our tiers is different... Bottom tier: marble w/choco fudge and vanilla custard... Mid tier: white cake w/lemon filling... Top tier: chocolate cake w/raspberry filling (this is more for my dad's fam). I always love strawberries too, we just had to stay away because of guest allergies. :(

With your options I would also maybe do white (or yellow cake) with both cream cheese and lemon (or strawberry) filling... That would be a really nice and different combo.

Definitely chocolate cake with strawberries. I love how well those two mesh. But then again I love all cake. We chose Chocolate Cake and Fresh Strawberries for our wedding cake. =)

Genois cake soaked in amaretto with white chocolate and raspberry mousse. I never expected to love a non-chocolate cake, but we both loved this one at La Farine (it's called Raspberry Royale - you can read my review).

Chocolate all the way for me, or even the marble with chocolate mousse filling...FH loves carrot so we're having all 3 layers different.

We are having three kinds: chocolate cake with hazelnut filling, yellow cake (they don't have white) with mango mousse, and hazelnut cake with mocha filling.

I haven't been able to do any tastings since I'm out of the country, but my sister generously offered to taste on my behalf. She and her husband both loved the lavender-ginger cake at Bewitching Elegance, and I would love to have tried it too. It was sadly out of our price range though.

Thank you ladies! As always, you've been a huge help!

Our cake is tiered and we'll be doing a different cake for each tier. I'm not picky in the least so deciding was difficult before input from all of you :)

I'm a huge strawberry fan and my FI is crazy for chocolate so that makes our cake choice pretty easy - chocolate with strawberries....maybe strawberry filling

For me, it depends on the time of year for the wedding...

I think Spring/Summer wedding cakes are tastiest with white/vanilla or lemon cake and custard and a fresh fruit filling like lemon, apricot stawberry, or raspberry. Marble cake with berries is tasty too! If you want chocolate, I suggest pairing it with orange or berries as well.

For Fall/Winter I love a chocolate cake with a chocolate liquor filling or mocha filling. Or a carrot or spice cake with a cream cheese filling.

In Hawaii they also offer haupia (coconut) and lilikoi (passion fruit) fillings...YUMMO!
