so starting tonight, i'm switcthing to NatureMade Prenatals and Expecta DHA caplets....should be the same, but i know before, i had no nausea or anything....i usually take them right before bed...

The prenatals my OB/GYN wrote for were like $40 a month! There is no way I'm paying that I'm not even pregnant! I take a generic store brand kind and an extra folic acid on top of it.

My doc told me to take Womens One a Day prenatals. Its two pills, the vitamin and then the DHA supplement. Its about $15 at my local walmart for a 30 day supply. I havent had any problems with them.

Ok, so this may be a stupid question, but what is the benefit of a prenatal over a regular women's vitamin?  Last time I bought vitamins (just otc ones at walmart), I compared the labels, and the women's vitamin has a lot more in it than the prenatal.  I know that women who are ttc are supposed to have more folic acid, so I take I take extra of that, but why are the prenatals better if they have less in them?

I take the Target brand, which compare to Stuart Prenatal. I think that they are excellent and they have a lot of Folic Acid.

So I went to my first prenatal visit on Friday and my Midwife put me on different prenatals and I wanted to share what I learned with you ladies. :D

She told me that a lot of vitamins including prenatals are made with synthetic vitamin compounds, not real vitamins and minerals from real food sources. The reason that it matters she said is because:

1. You & baby are getting chemicals, which bottom line are unhealthy.

2. The chemical vitamins are harder to break down into a usable supply for your body and the growing baby

These chemical compounds are part of what create the reaction some ladies have that make them sick.

So anyways, her are the names of the two prenatals that she told me to take that are from made from real food instead of synthetic.

1. New Chapter Perfect Prenatals

2. Rainbow Light Prenatals

You can find them both on ebay for discounted price!! :D

Also, she told me that I should start taking:

Pines Organic Wheat Grass - basically it's green veggies in a small pill!! So if you are not a big veggie person, or are busy and find it hard to get your greens in - this is an awesome way to do that.

Sorry this was so long.....just wanted to share what I thought was some awesome info!!

i've been taking Solgar (OTC) from Vitamin Shoppe. OB/GYN said they were a good choice when i told her about them - i even brought in the nutritional info for her to review : )

i really like them - i take 2x around midday, then another 2x in the evening. no nausea or anything!

I used Women's One A Day the first few months, then switched to the brand they sell at my Dr's office. I also took Iron and DHA on top of that. . .

Heres is my question for your TTCers...do taking prenatals give you an increase in EW CM? I noticed a huge increase!
