POLL: TTC around events?

Is anyone else trying to TTC around certain events?

For example, my sister is getting married June 2011. I'm sitting here thinking, If Im not preggo by Aug 2010, maybe I should wait until Nov to TTC so I'm not due on her wedding.

Also what about seasons? I live in New England and winters are terrible. I sit here and think... well, I'd hate to be 9 months pregnant and trying to walk around on ice and snow... then again, would I want to be 9 months pregnant during the sticky hot and humid summer months??

Ha, am I the only one who thinks like this?

nope, you're not the only one!  I'm trying to convince DH that the best time for us to have a baby is in late June.  He's a teacher and school is done for the year in late June, early July.  I think it would be wonderful for us to have the summer off together for the first few months of our child's life.  We'd both be home for all the important moments together, not to mention getting the other "everyday" stuff done (cooking, cleaning, etc)

DH think we should have a baby in January because it's a better advantage sports wise (fosr some reason he's convinced our child is going to be an athlete)....I'm not really taking this request into consideration!

most definitely! This is the one aspect of TTC that is a big pain in the butt for me! My husband and I love to travel. We keep looking at trips ideas but then I always have to stop and say "but what if I'm pregnant by then?" I know you can travel when pregnant, but we like to do scuba diving trips and all-inclusive (drinking) the trip would be kinda wasted if I was pregnant. Our one year anniversary is in May and we originally wanted to go back to our honeymoon spot, but we won't if I'm pregnant! But I might not get pregnant by then or at all so not booking it would be a waste then. It's so frustrating!

Ideally I would love to be preggo by in June to deliver in April and have 6 months home with the baby (I teach). In a perfect world planning it out like that would work. I am also very scared of it taking a long time so we are starting in March and see how it goes. If it takes a few months then it will be perfect timing but I just want to be trying!

the sooner the better for me....but i guess ideally, it would be Feb, so that i'd be off on maternity leave during the entire holiday season!

Me!!!  One of my best friend's is getting married in Jamaica in November and DH doesn't want me to be preggers or have a 1 month old baby to leave at home...so if we want to go on the trip no baby making for me until end of November :(

We are also doing the let's see what happens route so you just never know!

We're going by seasons only because I'm a teacher! I don't want to go back to work at all once my child is born, so if I have a November baby or something around then, my desire to not come back wouldn't work! I probably just wouldn't work that school year at all! My husband would rather me work one more academic year and then have a baby that spring, summer, or early fall! I personally feel that whenever we conceive is great and I want to just go with the flow! I won't plan my pregnancy around other events though. Whenever it happens, it happens!

Missie, man I love this line " I won't plan my pregnancy around other events though."

However... my sister would be PISSED if I was 9 months preggo or even worse at the hospital giving birth during her wedding. Everything with her is a competition, and since I am younger and have wed first she's already cranky with me, and I know, deep down, that should would be so resntful of me for years to come if I stole her wedding thunder with my family's first grandchild...

Yes! I was so horrible about this! We actually made a page by page list of the months and pros and cons of each...

I am with Jackie, I would love to take maternity leave around the holidays which is part of the reason we chose early march to start TTC. I would also rather be 9 months pregnant in the snow than in the summer, I hate heat!

The one thing we are kinda messing up by starting in March instead of November like we had originally planned is travel. We planned on taking a trip to vegas on my bday next year and if I'm prego that's definitely not going to happen. We are planning a trip in May to Cozumel and I'm kinda concerned that I'd be too big if we got pregnant now, but extremely sick if we got pregnant our first try in march (because then I'd only be 2 months at our trip). AH!

So we are way overanalyzing all of this...

I havent thought much about this other than the fact that I would prefer not to have a December baby. Its too close to Christmas! However, Im not going to stop TTC in March (that cycle would give me a Dec baby). Im 29 and want 3-4 kids so time is valuable to me.

We bith want summer and spring babies.  At this point if we get pregnant it will be a fall baby but I guess I can deal :)

i dont mind being 9 months in the dead of our dry heat, i prefer iit 10 fold to the cold.  oso the sooner the better so we dont have one too near xmas...my borther is born dec 15 and he HATES it!

We want 3-4 kids so we woudl like one in a May and August for sure.  we love to be outdoors and think our kids might too since we;ll be taking them lol

April- It's easy for me to say I won't plan around other events because there is nothing major going on anytime soon that I would be 9 months pregnant for lol! I think it's sad that your sister competes with you and would be mad if you were pregnant/giving birth near her wedding! You'd think she'd be happy to get a niece or nephew! I hope you guys get pregnant before your "cut off date." I know how much you guys want a little one! :)

I don't really want a December baby either. I am a December baby (the 23rd) and it's not fun having a b-day so close to Christmas, especially when I was little! There's enough going on in December where we don't need a baby then too. That being said, I will be off BCP in March and we will be in the "not trying but not preventing" phase and if it happens then, that's what was intended and that's great! :D

I used to say I didn't care and I would be prego when I was prego.  Well.....

I did need to plan around my cousin's wedding next June.  So I went off BCP in April and figured we would kinda try until August (due in May) and then pick up again after Oct/Nov so I wouldn't be super prego at the wedding.  And my friend told me that I wouldn't want to be super prego in the summer.  She did that the first time and was completely miserable.

I didn't believe her til I got prego in June & just being in my 1st trimester through the summer was barely bearable especially when the a/c went out for a week.  Now I love being big prego in the winter because I have my own little internal heater. :)  I run really hot these days and it is nice that it is not 100+degree heat outside too.

If I have my way, the next baby will be planned about the same.  Hopefully a few months difference.
