you eat pumpkin right out of the can?lol That is the first time I've heard of that. Water is always a good way to go.  Another good idea is to buy fresh fruit and make your own fruit cups at home. Get your fruit home and put them together right away (no procrastination later). There's so much bad for you stuff that goes into the store bought ones, it's disgusting.

Recently lost 20lbs....did it with a prescription appetite suppressant to get kick-started for the first few weeks, along with a low-intake diet. I try to stick to (80% of the time) 2 servings of carbs, 2 fruits, and unlimited salad and veggies in a day. It's been 3-4 weeks off the suppressant and so far so good. 1-2 lbs a week.

To stay away from junk food I found a great late-night, gotta have something sweet snack - I cut up an apple, sprinkle some brown sugar and microwave for a minute or so until soft - AWSOME!!

My last trick...water, water, water, water.

My next step (arrggghhh).....exercise!

I love pumpkin too!

I suck on frozen grapes throughout the day. Keeps you occupied so you eat less.

My wedding is in a month and I've stepped up my work outs from 2-3x (if i'm lucky) at the gym to 5x a week at the gym with a trainer.

I try to eat smaller portions and like the gals said earlier, drink a glass of water before dinner.  That helps.  If you crave sweets eat fruit.

I was watching "Bulging Brides" on the WE network and the gal said to make sure the meat is just enough to fit within the your palm and that 2/3 of the plate are veggies...salads.

I also used to eat 1/2 of a Luna bar before all my work outs and I got so sick of them.  Now I eat a banana and it gives me a ton of energy to run on the treadmill and get a good work out.  Plus it has potassium and prevents cramping.

Avoid sodium to prevent water retention.  Vinegar is great on salads.  I make my own salad dressing with red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt/pepper and shake it in a jar then pour it over my salad.  tasty.  To mix up my salads, I add in sliced strawberries, rasperries, a tiny bit of candied pecans as well.

That's all I can think of!

My trainer insists that I eat 5-6 small meals per day. Radishes, celery and cucumber are the "magic" veggies she claims. Also, lots of green tea. The kind you brew not the sugary kind in the bottles

Hey ladies, we should post things like thuis under the Weight Loss and Health forum. I personally came up with the idea for that furom asked for that forum to be created so that we all could discuss weigh loss issues.

Let's get that forum going and keep it alive. :0)

You body holds weight when it thinks you are going hungry. Holds fat and foods it doesn't know how to process.

Eat as much as you what of unprocessed, unrefined, non hydrogenated oils!!! Do not drink with your meals and chew, chew, chew...

~~~YOu will lose weight this way~~~
Read Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford a translation of Chinese Herbal Medicine. Read the positive qualities of each organ to understand what you have in and out of balance and know which foods to create deliciously.
Most people need to get their digestive juices re boosted and heal the intestinal villa so they can absorb their nutrients and their body isn't going hungry.
They say america has the most over fed and under nourished population.
This is why... Chew your food to have your saliva get your pancreatic fluids to begin the digestion process this will allow the small intestines to digest the food and heal your intestinal villi which will allow your body to absorb nutrients and not feel like it is starving.
Water (or liquid) with food washes out the digestive fluids and causes you not to absorb, hence you hold fats and unprocessable foods and get overweight.
one reason you have Thirst for water with food is a sign of chemical laden foods
I hope this helps, totally different from most mainstream theory's... Remember Chinese Herbal Medicine has been around for 5000 years and MainStream Theory's for about 100 years....
Flax Seed Tea steeped only for a minute each morning regrows the villi on the intestines...
So does Nettle Tea steeped overnight in a quart jar. Add about 1/3 way full with nettles. You can get a pound for $6.00 from frontier herbs online... Great female herb, good for many things!!! one of my favorites after having 4 children and needing to be strong, nurse and make healthy children
I heard somewhere that a teaspoon of cinnamon in the morning helps your metabolism (Oprah? was it you?).
I also just read another confirmation that the active cultures in yogurt aid metabolism. (I call it "skinny juice" and have yogurt every morning--the protein really keeps you good till lunchtime.)
When I'm walking, I try to 'activate' my abs (pilates girls know what I mean). Suck it in!
