Ok ladies, post your inspiration for your dress and the progress so far!
My "test" dress:
Alvina Valenta (stock photo of front, pic of ME with the back I want)
I joined because I want to stalk your dresses :)
hahaha Vicki - that's exactly why I started a group..I love stalking dress progressions! Have you picked your dress yet?
aaah. I think I might've ... the Marisa 737.
It just feels like second skin on! Although I AM considering getting bridesmaids dresses through Milly.
Annie was super duper helpful!
I already have a dress but not in love with it.. so here is the inspiration for the Milly dress
and here are the pics they have sent so far with modification. I cant flip them right now
Gorgeous pictures ladies!
Vicki - That's a gorgeous dress - I think it'll look beautiful on you!
rlevangraafeiland - Can't wait to see the finished product. I love the design :D
I am sooo excited about it!
Oh these are going to be amazing!
rlevangraafeiland, we have similar dresses! What is the length of your train? (chapel, sweep, etc?) its so beautiful! How much are you paying?
Its a lazaro . Milly will be making it in white with silver accents.
I sold my Milly dress, so I'm not technically a Milly bride anymore. But I still am at heart! :)
My inspiration was Alvina Valenta 9914:
My Milly dress:
Just sold it last week and the bride should be getting it tomorrow. I'm glad it went to a nice home. :)
jjpeng - *YAY* for selling your dress! Glad it's going to a good home :D
ok ready for this?!?
shape: + kohler
the way it V's in the back. (my bustle will also look like this, but milly doesn't do bustles, so i'll have a seamstress here do it!!)
i told them i wanted a very dramatic mermaid shape and looooooong train (8' to be exact!)
Everyone's dress is so beautiful!! I'm so excited to see everyone's progress. I just send my payment yesterday with detailed instructions.
Al0626 thanks for the tip on using paint to make notes on pictures!
jjpeng props to you for selling your dress! I'm sure it maded a bride very happy!
Inspiration: The dress actually has a wider mermaid bottom like the second picture of a differant dress but you can't tell because the model is walking. I'm having the belt be removable, so it can fit perfectly on my waist the day of the wedding. I'm having it made in duchess satin.
Back: Making it a cathedral train and adding buttons.
with this back:
ladies do you know if Milly includes the crinoline? Most mermaid dresses already have one built in, but I don't know if this is included in the price. I tried on an additional mermaid crinolines in some dresses and loved the extra poof. Also, some dresses I tried on had this extra corset like thing, kinda like the back of a bra but it went around the waist, and it is closed and then the dress is zipped. Do you guys know what this is called or how I can explain to Milly that I want the dress to have it? It seems to give the dress a better fit.
verdes, milly includes the crinoline, but NOT the inner corset (i asked for it too, but they said they can't/don't do them)
i made SURE they knew that they couldn't add enough crinoline to mine ;) hence the dramatic mermaid "poof" i'm actually having them add even more to the train...can't have enough volume if you ask me!!
side note: they also don't do bustle, but thats something a seamstress here in the US can do :)
All your dresses look beautiful girls! I can't wait to see the finished products!!!
Side note: I just got an email from the girl I sold the dress to. She just got it today and she's so happy with it and she said it fits her perfectly! She sounded so happy and excited and it made me so happy too! I guess I just feel a connection to the dress still and I'm so glad she was able to get a dress she loved and I'm so glad my dress will be worn with love. She said she will send me pics of her wedding in Jan.! It's weird since I don't know her but I felt so excited and emotional about it. Haha. I can't wait to see her pics in the dress! :D
jjpeng - I can understand what you mean about being attached emotionally to that dress - you spent 4 long months going over every detail to make sure it was gorgeous! I think your effort combined with Milly's effort put together a truly stunning gown! I'm glad she loves it too :D
Al0626 - thanks for the heads up about crinoline, I feel the same way about the train and the poof! The only dress I tried on at the store that had a great poof was the enzoani dakota, I tried finding other dresses that had the effect & all the sales people just kept saying no other dress had it like that, luckily I went with my bridesman one day & he told me that I could just wear an extra mermaid crinoline, I did that for a few dress & it made such a difference! I put in the detail that it was important to have a dramatic mermaid but I think I will do what you did & mention lots of crinoline!
jjpeng - That is so great that the bride was so thoughtful & appreciative of the dress you worked so hard on :-)
i joined the group so i can tell you all that your dresses are so beautiful! i wish i can get a dress made through Milly although I have no where to wear it to! hehe. Can't wait to see how everyone's dresses turn out. good luck!
Miss You, I just looked at your bio & your wedding dress & all your ceromonies were so beautiful! Love the sash you put on your dress!
