Premarital counseling...

did you have counseling before the big day? If you did, was it b/c it was a requirement from the officiant or you really wanted to have counseling?

Let me know ladies.

I have an officiant in mind (my cousin fiance aunt). really nice lady and feels like she knows me some what. When I inquired initially, she said its a requirement and I liked that.

We had pre-marital counseling, it was a requirement of our Pastor that just recently passed away.  I know everyone is not religious or even spiritual however I def think that everyone should have it.

It really helped us to understand each other even better, I feel like our bond is so much stronger because of it.  I think that if you have to have a test to get a license then it shouldn't hurt to sit down with someone to discuss your reationship likes, dislikes, expectations or lack thereof.

Great question!

my condolences.

awesome poppyaka! i'm looking forward to it.

I think it can seal our relationship.  i've heard a lot of questions are asked to make one think. I'm all for it though....the more things are on the table, the better. I'm more of a private person though, so this will be a great learning experience for both of us.

sometimes my honey is too cool for school LOL so it should be fun.

We did premarital counseling by our Pastor. I agree with poppyaka, everyone should do it. DH and I really enjoyed it.

We had Pre-Cana, which is required before getting married in the catholic church. DH and I enjoyed it. It wasn't stressful to us because we had already discussed many of the topics beforehand. I think it's helpful in starting discusson on topics you might avoid otherwise.

so we had our 1st session recently...it was cool. more of an introduction and the expectations of the sessions etc.

we left there with a book, which we have to do hwk haha...it was more so answering questions abt scenarios, and rating our personalities etc...

the next session will be to discuss and go from there.
