price per head?

So, I'm loving one place after looking at 4 so far... but it's $125/person, after deducting certain things, am I crazy!?!?   Are you girls spending that much per person!?!?  Is that average and I'm just a cheapskate or what!?!?!

This includes a cocktail dinner, not seated, beer and wine and signature martini, and linens, (20 color selections) and cake.

Please fill me in!

We are having a Friday wedding so it's totally different our price per person is $44. Also we are in Houston so it's definitely going to be much cheaper that anyone on the East or West coast lol!

Ours was $125 per person…That price included a cocktail hour, all drinks (alcohol included), and sit down meal (Salad, Bread, Filet Mignon with Lobster, or Chicken and Shrimp plus sides) it also included some type of dessert other than the wedding cake.

The venue and all of other items were an additional charge.

That's about what we're paying $125, but the venue is included, and it's a Friday night.  Ughh.... I guess I'm going to have to suck it up... NJ is expensive... but i'm thinking about an off season wedding now... so it's cheaper..... Oct/Nov maybe.... I don't know  **throwing my hands up**

Ha, true story Mcbirnie!! Charleston is the second most popular wedding destination in America, next to Vegas. So when planning our wedding, we went way out of town! Our venue was about 20% of some of the others quoted in the Charleston/downtown area and we LOVE the one we finally picked. But we just had to start picking what was more important with our wedding and finding ways to save money. A coworker is having his in Atlanta and was surprised at the price difference.

We're paying about $125 per head. It includes basically everything though:

open bar

hors d’oeuvres and a 3 course meal

venue rental- ceremony and reception

our decor (although we did do some upgrades and spent a little more than we orignally budgeted)

AllboutMartini..... $110 is awesome for that place!! We went to check it out, but they quoted us $160 for Friday/Sunday and $200 for Saturday night!!!  How the hell did you manage that???  Nice job!!!

$125 is the bargained price they gave me.... it was originally $137.50 for Fri/Sun and $157.50 for Sat. night.

wow! Well, we are getting married in the afternoon, maybe that's why? I am planning on extending my hours from 12-5 to 12-6pm or 7pm but we'll see.

What month are you looking to get married?

Afternoon weddings are less expensive. If money is a little tight maybe you should consider? If you are willing to get married outside of NJ check out The Surf Club in New Rochelle or The Glen Harbor Club in New Rochelle. They are very beautiful, about $125 pp. In Long Island, there is a place called Jerricho Island, Ive never visited the place but I hear its lovely.

A fellow PW member got married at a place called West Mount in West Patterson NJ. I was quoted $130 pp on a Sunday.

Have you checked on The Palisadium in Cliffside Park, NJ? I've never visited but the prices are $90 - $200 pp depending on menu and time.

That's all I have for now but if I cant think of any place else I'll send you a PM!

Ours was $29 and included appetizers, salad, entree , bread basket and drink.  Everything was served...no buffet. It was at a really nice restaurant and we had the entire upstairs rented out for our wedding/ceremony. It was a $4000 food and beverage minimum and the upstairs rental was free. We had a very tight budget though and a small wedding (55 guests)  They also completely set up and tore down everything (decorations, tables, cleanup...everything)

i got married at the Westmount, $100 per head for a Saturday afternoon 12-5 wedding in September.  It included EVERYTHING (top shelf liquors, charivari chairs, meat, chicken, fish and vegetarian dish (not a pasta dish too!).  Such a beautiful venue!

Also learn to negotiate!  i had also visited The Hyatt in Jersey City, who quoted me $175 for the same date but was able to get them down to $135.  In the end it was still too much compared to what I was getting at the Westmount.  The only thing they had going for them was the panoramic views of Manhattan.

The Heldrich and Imperial, both in New Brunswick, were also decently priced if I remember and both were beautiful as well.

Wow I'm so glad I'm getting married in small town in Canada or I wouldn't be able to afford to feed my then the bridal party and parents. lol.  My venue is 150 for reception and dance including 2 bartenders for cash bar. My caterer is charging $14 pp and that is for rolls, main course and 3 choices of desserts.

Whew! I think that's a lot, but that's just me, our budget and the area we live in. The average around here is $40 per plate. We paid $10 per person for a seated dinner iwth two entrees and non-alcoholic drink choices. Beer, wine, etc. was extra and the cake was a separate vendor all together. The venue did it's own catering, but we paid a certain fee to rent the place and then so much per person. Menu is here.

I think this is a cost that will vary significantly depending on where you live and what you want, but you should do some research to find out what similar places in your area are charging so you know if it's really a lot or average. HTH!
