Pro's and con's of doing my own makeup? I just can't decide...

Overall I do really well with my makeup, I just can't decide if I want to do it myself or not. Some insight would be great! TIA!

i dont really have a choice - i'm doin my own - but it's a chapel on the sea place, so i dont need to look overly glammed up

i've been practicing and taking pincs in the sun and seeing what i lke and dislike...

would you be comfy doing your own - like would you stress youtself out?? i'd love to hire an expert to do mine

I'm planning to do my own but I need to do what dirty did, take pics outside (good idea lady!)
Maybe if you decide to do it yourself, go to sephora or a counter and have them show you how to do it and then you'll feel more confident that you can do it yourself.

Just a couple things to remember with doing your own makeup - If your normal foundation has sunscreen in it, you might want to switch up formulas for the day. The minerals that are used in sunscreen apparently reflect light (I learned this from a photographer) and therefore can make your face look shades lighter than the rest of you when any sort of flash photography is used.

Also you may want to use a heavier hand than you normally do for your day to day makeup - your makeup colors (esp eye and lip) aren't going to show as much in photos as they appear in real life, which could have you looking a bit washed out.

Just to add to neebelung's and d1rty's advice - when looking for a sunscreen, go for sunscreens without zinc oxide (which causes the weird lighting effects in photos). My make-up artist recommended Kiehl's.

Hmm I really really love my sunscreen, you can't see it and it lightly dusts over your make-up. Its AMAZING:

Oh and the Mcnals woman that left a negative comment, well she just wasn't very clever I guess. Its really easy to close, you just retract the brush! So silly!

Bump.  I did my own makeup for our engagement pictures and I think it turned out pretty good.  I would do about the same look, just different blush/lipstick.  Our pictures are on snapfish, take a look, any comments are appreciated!

(By the way, my hair won't be quite that dark of brown for the wedding, more of a light sandy brown.)

hmmmm - since i'm not sure what "look" youre goin for - it's kinda hard to say if it's appropriate or not??

-more casual beachy look?

-more dramatic statement??

the e-pics are good - but i dont know if it's the shadow from the sun since you guys were outside - but maybe find foundation or something closer to your face color?  it looks like it's a tad wee bit darker that your neck - like aruond the jawline??

are you wearing blush??  are you planning on wearing eye shadow??

you comfortable doing your own makeup with closeup shots of you??

i completely suck at my own makeup!! so i finally hired a pro to do it - plus i dont want to stress myself out...and with the sun and heat-humidity, i hired a pro so she could use her tricks so i'm not sweating and the makeup is melting on my face under the hot hawaiian sun =)

GL!!
