PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP! ! ! !

PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP!

The ladies of PW have some amazing shoes, veils, and accesories.  Some of them bought too much for the big day and want to share!  They are looking to gift their new or like-new shoes, veils, and accesories to brides in need who may not otherwise be able to buy or wear them.

To participate, there are a few rules!

If you need a bridal item

  • Post your story here in this thread!  Tell us about your wedding, your fiance, and why you need and or would love an item gifted to you by a fellow PW bride!  Please include your shoe size/dress size as applicable, as well as give us a general idea of your overal style and theme!  Feel free to post photos.
  • Please post your wedding date!
  • Be prepared to cover the cost of shipping
  • If a member has something that may work for you, they will contact you privately via PM
  • If you are gifted an item, please make sure to post photos of the item in action at your fittings and wedding!

If you would like to donate a bridal item

  • Items should be a modern bridal style and in new or like-new condition
  • You would be gifting the item to the member and will not get it back
  • The member will pay shipping
  • You get to read through their stories in this thread and decide if you want to contact one of them!  If a members post really speaks to you, and you have something you think they may love and enjoy, send them a PM and include estimated shipping costs.
  • You may also post your item in this thread, but be prepared for a LOT of PM's from brides who want it

RULES:

  • Please be honest
  • PW is not responsible for lost or damaged goods, or failure to deliver
  • I recommend payment of shipping costs be done via Paypal
  •  If you were gifted something, please consider re-gifting it after your wedding!

I am currently looking for... A simple, elbow length ivory veil, jewelry (earrings, necklace and maybe a bracelet - something simple), vintage or country looking pew decorations and broaches (I am making a broach bouquet) and 2 silk flower bouquets for my girls (my colors are navy and tiffany with multiple shades of purple as accents).

Our story: in 1997 I met my FI but he was 13 and I was 18, of course there was no relationship but he swore he was in love with me and planned to marry me. I was flattered but thought he was annoying little kid. Fast forward 9 years, a move to Pennsylvania, 2 kids and 1 failed marriage and I was back in NC looking for peace. I decided to take the kids to visit my old church and before I knew it I was talking to the grown up version of that kid and man oh man was he hot!

I was here for 2 weeks that summer and we decided to try and make a relationship work even though we had 500 miles between us. 9 months and many weekend trips later we decided enough was enough and I packed up my kids and moved to NC Easter day of 2007. On Christmas day 2009 he finally popped the question (with the ring he had custom made out of amethyst and sapphires he found when we went gem mining).

We are now knee deep in wedding planning and doing it all ourselves. We have absolutly no help from either of our families (my parents gifted us a little money towards buying our house last year and his family doesn't agree with us getting married).

My FI says he looks forward to twlling everyone "I told you so" at the wedding b/c he knew I would one day be his wife. I have found my prince charming (and I am still in shock lol!)

We are having a vintage country wedding in an old church that predates the civil war (got an amazing deal, $250 for the entire weekend) and having the reception at our house. We are doing bbq so we can do it ourselves. We each have 2 attendants and the girls were just asked to get a navy, floor length dress and the guys are wearing tiffany shirts and jeans. I am wearing an all lace dress with cowboy boots and I am still looking for a floor length dress for my daughter (navy or purple jr bridesmaid). The FG is wearing a tulle tutu made of all three colors and boots.

My FI has a decent job as an Inventory Manager at a local diesel truck lot and I am a CNA but am in school for LPN. Money is tight with 2 kids (daughter is 12 and my son is 8).

If you have anything that fits my theme please let me know, and if you are getting married after October 15 and are interested in anything I may have let me know!

THANK YOU AND CONGRATS TO ALL THE BRIDES OUT THERE!

Hi ladies! Ok, I'm admitting defeat and finally asking for help.

Our story:

We met almost 4 years ago. He's actually younger then by a little over 4 years but is still mentally my senior. He's an old soul. We have a 2 year old, Aiden, AKA Narious Magoogoo (inside joke..lol) So we never wanted to get married and never honestly thought about it, until one day he just suddenly decided it was time. I was shocked but happy. Fast forward>> We've been through everything, from him on his death bed signing updated life insurance papers, to both our families begging for help due to lost jobs and bad economy.I knew I loved him and couldn't be without him when  I almost lost both him and Aiden to black mold from the home we were buying (was our dream home), we drained our savings, got him better, and managed to save some possessions. Then we had to move in with his parents. We kept afloat, and managed to help his parents who are going through finanacial ruin due to working for the local University (not the greatest paying jobs). Fast Forward again!>> We moved into our own place (a very nice apartment) and were doing fine, until his parents had issues again. So now we're trying to stay afloat, help his parents stay our of forclosure, help my brother, who is a Marine in Cali, as often as we can because HONESTLY THEY DON'T MAKE THAT MUCH!!

Oh, did I mention that we can't even really get married because I found out due to a clerical error, I'm still married to a bastard of a man that left me a month after we got married, I thought I had divorced, and is now trying to black mail me into giving him $$. AWESOME!! :( So we're settling for a "union" instead since we made the mistake of sending out STDs and booking things prior to finding this info out. This actually breaks my heart and makes me cry on a daily basis because all I want most in life is to be his wife with all my heart and soul. I feel like he's being cheated of something even though he says he isn't and that he doesn't care, that he knows I'm his wife no matter what. :'(

We're paying for everything ourselves along with helping out as many people as we can. It's really rough, I'm a newly appointed Insurance Agent for a very small company and Kevin (FI) works in the refineries. As I keep looking at the ticker that runs on the bottom of PW, I realize that unless $$ is gonna fall from the sky, we're kinda screwed. :/

Our Specifics:

We're having a country vintage wedding in black, ivory, bronze, and jewel tones (purple and blue) lots of colors I know but we're going for vintage classic. Think Fried Green tomatoes with lace..lots of lace!! We're getting married or "unioned" 11/05/2011. I found a dress and just couldn't bring myself to paying that much for it. So I canceled the layaway. So now no dress. It was CWG352. We're having the wedding at a local vintage barn that was renovated.

  • Size: 12/14 in dress

  • 9 1/2-10 in shoes (this was an awesome gift of pregnancy..lol)

Our needs:

Thanks to PW I've come across some awesome finds in the classifieds. However, again, I'm finally admitting defeat and looking for help.

  • A dress. I just can't seem to make myself pay that much for something, when we both have so much family that needs things right now.

  • any decor that I can mesh together in the vintage feel. I'm not looking for matchy matchy..different is fine.

  • A LAWYER WILLING TO TAKE PAYMENTS (or pro bono) AND GET ME A DANG DIVORCE!! (this could be just wishful thinking but lawyers are so expensive and again, with our families being in such bad shape right now, we just can't pay all that money upfront.

I have lots of stuff that I'll be passing on to someone after our big day, so thank you in advance with whatever help you can manage.

Hi fellow brides and brides to be. My name is Cindi and in June, I'll be a 1st time bride at age 55. I finally found my Prince Charming. Our wedding was orininally planned for May 2009, but my mother couldn't travel from Florida to Virginia because my step father was dying from cancer. Since we didn't know how long he had, my fiancee and I went to them and married with just them. I was glad my step Dad was able to see me married before he died 6 weeks later, but was so very sad to not have been able to have my (lifelong dream wedding). So, we rescheduled, but since we'd lost money cancelling the 1st wedding, I can't spend as much on this one. (What I consider the REAL one). I can't afford to get another dress and can't wear my original one, because I loaned it to someone and they ruined it. I'm hoping to be able to get another dress if possible. My wedding theme, is classic elegance, colors are black, white , silver and dk. rose red. My dress size is a street size 12-14. It doesn't matter how it's made at top, but I'd like somewhat of a ballgown or A-line white dress. I'd just hope for a current dress. I don't mean to be picky, but this is my dream and I really hope not to have to wear something from the 1980's just because someone wants to get rid of a dress. (I know you understand) : D    I plan to donate the dress back to maybe a military bride.

I'm also hoping to find submersible lights, any kind of up lighting, cake banding and candy bags/boxes for candy buffet.

Thank you so very much for considering me, and I promise to pass on anything donated to me. My love to each of you.

Sincerely, Cindikate

Hi PW Ladies,

I'm a little frustrated. I am looking for vellum for my DIY invitations and favors. Do you have any laying around? Brown, Blue(aqua/teal), Ivory, White are our colors.

I have wasted time and money on inkjet printers and inks for this project. Can anyone tell me if they have had beautiful prints on velum from an inkjet printer? I am thinking the laser printer might be what I need for this. Vellum goes through the injet just fine but how is it with the laser.

I got a better result (feeding) from the flat printer than the one that fed from the top. Any advice?

I hope everyone is doing well and your wedding plans are coming along as you planned.

For those of you celebrating YOUR DAY TODAY and TOMORROW! Remember the important thing is to have fun. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

(no one knows what DIDN'T happen:-))

Hello, I happened across this awesome site from an app called wedding helper.
I am SO grateful!
My FI and I are have been together for almost 4 years now and we have been through so much already.
I have two children from a previous marriage and he has taken them into his heart as his own.
We are planning a February winter wedding, and like many people, we are paying for our wedding ourselves and I am doing a lot of the decor myself. Our colors are white and silver. We are using pine tree branches and pine cones for our decor.
As of right now I have no dress, shoes, or accessories. I do know what dress I would like to have is an infinity, or octopus, dress. I would like to have something like a petty coat to put underneath it to add more poof to the dress.
My dress size is 22, shoe size is 11, and I am looking for anything blingy...or something with snowflakes would be awesome. Thank you so much for all your generosity. Anything would be help...even extra white glitter to finish the decorations.

I have a brand new pair of earrings that I purchased from another PW bride, but I have no found a different pair that I love. I know that there is someone who needs them, and as someone who is on a budget I totally understand how tight things can get financially! I would love to see them help out a bride in need!

They're gorgeous, and if you want them please feel free to PM me :)

I have a brand photo 3201501-1

EDIT: These went to a deserving bride!

Most of you probably know my story by now, but here it is again. Sorry, it's long-

In August of 2010, my older brother essentially forced me out of my mother's home, but it wasn't out of hate or anger, it was out of love. You see, my "mother" (which I use in the roughest terms because she is nowhere near a parent) was abusive to me my whole life. Constantly calling me names, demeaning me, and also physically abusing me, I had to deal with a lot. And it's not like there was anywhere that I could go- my father was the same way and had left when I was 6 years old. The last memory I have of him is telling me "the divorce is all your fault".

Any who- back to 2010, Lance (older brother) put me on a flight to Portland where I would be staying with my best friend Steven whom I had literally known my whole life. Before I went through security, he gave me a huge hug and told me to never come back. He had already succommed to drug addiction and alcoholism because of everything that she had put our family through, and he wanted better for me.

So, when I got to Portland from West Palm Beach it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I got into the car with Steven and he was totally silent. Over the next few weeks things continued to be a bit awkward, but it wasn't "bad" per sey.

I woke up one morning and Steven had just gotten home from work (he worked night shifts), I was in the kitchen preparing my breakfast and getting ready to head out for my own job, when he said "I am so sick of your sh*t!" and threw a punch at me. Luckily, I ducked and he got the wall instead. I ran to my room, packed up all of my stuff, and left immediately.

At this point, I had nowhere to go. There was no one I knew in the area, I had 95 cents to my name, I literally had nothing and noone. I had left the condo at 2pm, and took the train to the next stop so that he would not be able to find me. I just sat there, crying. I had no idea what to do, and 19 year old girls don't do well on the street on their own.

After about 3 or 4 hours of sitting at the train station, I got a random text. It was from a guy that I had been talking to that I had met on an internet dating website. We had texted back and forth a little bit, but I hadn't heard from him in a week or so. We talked for a few, and out of nowhere he called me. "I just have this feeling...what's wrong" he said. I hadn't even notioned towards my situation and didn't want to involve someone that I didn't even know. But, he wouldn't let up, and I finally blurted out what had happened.

He was just dumb founded, and asked "do you need a place to sleep". I didn't know this guy. He could have been a serial killer for all I knew! But, I've learned to trust my gut, and it was telling me to say yes. So I did, and he said "I'll be there in about 2 hours". Mind you, this was 8pm on a Thursday night and he had to work the next day. He lived two hours form where I was.

Right after we hung up from our call, my phone died. I hoped and prayed that this was real and was really happening, and two hours later he showed up. I was so nervous, but all that I could do was hug him. I held it together at first, but when we finally got back to his house I broke down crying. He just held me and said "everything is going to be okay, I'll protect you". There was something that happened on the car ride back, and neither of us are sure of what, but I know now that what happened was us meeting each other's soul mates.

After about 3 days, we both knew that we were meant to be together. I have never been happier in my life, and now I understand why God put me through all of that Hell. And honestly, if I had to do it to know that I get Josh in the end- I would.

So that is our story, and now down to why I need the help of PW. As you can tell, I have no family. My only family is my older brother, and I have heard from him just recently over the course of a year. He is in an intensive drug and alcohol rehab in Texas, and will not be out for a year or so.

Josh's family has no money, and because of our financial situation I am paying for the wedding solely on my own. I have been very blessed with a boss who has gotten me a dress for over 75% off and I have come across a number of ladies here on PW who have helped in bigger ways than I would have ever imagined. However, I'm still in need of whatever I can get. Anything that you have will help me, and I'd greatly appreciate. Ideally, we need decor right now as well as linens. Basically anything that I can find for the actual wedding is what I am after. I have pretty much everything else covered. I am also in search of DIY materials as well.

Our colors are cobalt blue, purple, and black. I would greatly appreciate anything and everything that you ladies could give to me, and after my own wedding in October 2013 I will gladly pass on the materials to other brides in need.

Thanks so much for reading my novel!
