PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP! ! ! !

PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP!

The ladies of PW have some amazing shoes, veils, and accesories.  Some of them bought too much for the big day and want to share!  They are looking to gift their new or like-new shoes, veils, and accesories to brides in need who may not otherwise be able to buy or wear them.

To participate, there are a few rules!

If you need a bridal item

  • Post your story here in this thread!  Tell us about your wedding, your fiance, and why you need and or would love an item gifted to you by a fellow PW bride!  Please include your shoe size/dress size as applicable, as well as give us a general idea of your overal style and theme!  Feel free to post photos.
  • Please post your wedding date!
  • Be prepared to cover the cost of shipping
  • If a member has something that may work for you, they will contact you privately via PM
  • If you are gifted an item, please make sure to post photos of the item in action at your fittings and wedding!

If you would like to donate a bridal item

  • Items should be a modern bridal style and in new or like-new condition
  • You would be gifting the item to the member and will not get it back
  • The member will pay shipping
  • You get to read through their stories in this thread and decide if you want to contact one of them!  If a members post really speaks to you, and you have something you think they may love and enjoy, send them a PM and include estimated shipping costs.
  • You may also post your item in this thread, but be prepared for a LOT of PM's from brides who want it

RULES:

  • Please be honest
  • PW is not responsible for lost or damaged goods, or failure to deliver
  • I recommend payment of shipping costs be done via Paypal
  •  If you were gifted something, please consider re-gifting it after your wedding!

Hi my name is Tanya, I am 34 and I have been engaged to a wondeful man for 2 years. We have combined 6 children and one grandchild. Are wedding date was suppose to be this year-2013- but in October 24,2012 changed our lives forever. I was not feeling well that night and I had been ill a few days before. I went and took a bath and was sweating bullets, I was rushed to the ER and I was told by the ER Dr that I was having a massive heart attack. My body went into shock and I was on a ventilater for 6 days. I was in ICU for 8 days and I have been in and out of the hospital several times since. My fiance has just went back to work and I am looking for a job so we can afford to get married the correct way. We don't want anything big but we also do not want to get married in a courthouse either. Our bills have piled up so now we are catching up on them and have forced our wedding date to 06-05-2014. I have lost a tremondous amount of weight so I am n ow in a 12 and my shoe size is 9 1/2. Any help is appreciated and we live at the beach so we are doing a beach wedding. Thank you for reading my story.

This is exciting! DH and I just minimized our vow renewal to be a lot smaller than originally planned so I may possibly have a lot of items available, I will check when I get home!

Ok I guess I'll give this a try. :) my FI and I met over 7 years ago. At the time I was dating my ex of 5 years but none the less we were good friends. Everyone (including me) knew that my now FI had the buggiest crush on me. He asked me out to a movie and coffee or pizza and I was oblivious and said that Friday nights were boyfriend nights. After what I realized what I did I apologized and we were just great friends. After several years my mother was diagnosed with cancer (happy to report she is officially in remission!) and I kind of became reclusive and hung out with almost no one and thus we drifted apart. In that same period of time I got laid off of my job (and was unemployed for 2 years!) and my ex dumped me. Literally all within weeks of each other. I was devastated. I knew I had love and support but chose not to burden anyone I knew with it. Finally after six months of being sad and lonely I called my now FI up and asked if I could swing by. When I showed up at his door I asked him if his offer for coffee was still a standing offer.

The years have flown by and we've been through a lot of rough patches together. One thing hasn't changed, he still helps me and fixes me and has made me a better person. (In fact he still feels guilty about never telling me how he felt back in the day thinking it would have saved me a lot of pain with my ex). On 12/16/12, we were at a charity ball for Toys for Tots at a convention and he had arranged to propose on stage! And it was amazing! It's even on YouTube! (YouTube I said yes at holiday matsuri 2012 or just engagement holiday matsuri)

In all this time I've been unemployed twice and am now working at a really low paying job (which is currently causing me health issues which means i may be facing unemployment again!) and he is struggling to become a teacher. We're they hire him and then fire him at the end of the year due to budget cuts. So neither of us have a lot of money. We're trying really hard to put together a decent wedding but more importantly money to have left over to start our lives together. It's been hard. I live in a destination wedding location so everything near me is soooooo expensive. I fell in love with a church two hours away from me, and my local Parrish isn't being very helpful. Everything about venue research is not working at all and is extremely stressful for me. Luckily however the rings and surprisingly even the dress have fallen into place but now I'm a little lost.

I need a veil. My dress is ivory and I want it to at least fall below my bum so that it does not obstruct the beautiful corseting in my dress. Cathedral length is also cool. I think I also want two layers so my father can "unveil" me at the alter. But that isn't a requirement. I also want it to have some lace. I like finished edges on the veil and not too blingy. Obviously I'm just tell you all what I like but if some one wishes to gift me a veil that is totally awesome and I would be ever so grateful! I would gladly pass it along. (I'm currently looking at mantilla's as well as vintage veils because all the new ones seem like such look alikes)

I might also need help with decorations or favors. I'm totally intending on doing something DIY for my wedding but since I haven't found a venue I haven't been able to settle on a theme or color palette. :( so for now I guess I'll just say I need things. Lol

Again if anyone can help that's cool! If not then that's cool too.

We welcomed a baby girl in july 2012. She is my whole world. I work a part time job for now until I go back to school in fall of 2013

This is a GREAT idea!!

My name is Rachel, my wedding date is July 19, 2014. I am going to marry the love of my life, Darrell. We have been together 5 yrs in May when he proposed. I never try to use my past as a crutch but my past is the reason I am who I am today. My parents were the type that lived pay check to pay check and never saved up for anything. Since they were always dodging the rent or the electric bill I was someone that made the best of what I had. When I became 20 yrs old I started looking into ways to build my credit because I did not want to be a product of my parents. This is when I learned that my credit was wrecked!! I had electric bills, cable bills, phone bills in my name. My student loans were twice as much than I knew I had borrowed. I had some savings stashed away and those were no longer there. I knew it was time to move out on my own. My parents never had an addiction or anything but they were just the type to go out to dinner and live beyond there means.

After moving out our relationship began to change. My FI was my rock, and my voice of reason. Within the last year my parents are still nickle and diming me after they lost their car and home in a repossession. This is when I had enough, I cut them off. Darrell was always the one that would get me through when I was worried where they were living, how they made it to the doctor etc. Since my parents destroyed my credit Darrell and I are unable to buy a house. We are saving the best we can and putting our money in rentals and hoping one day we will catch a break.

We have the best relationship and we are wanting to make this day special. My vision is blue, purples, and pinks. Also with damask touches here and there. I am such a DIYer, I love the flea markets and anything to make something look expensive. I'm in love with the pomader centerpieces! Hopefully we can make our dreams come true and have the wedding we have dreamed about. Thanks for reading about me and my awesome FI. I hope when my wedding is over I can find some beautiful brides to regift to.
