PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP! ! ! !

PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP!

The ladies of PW have some amazing shoes, veils, and accesories.  Some of them bought too much for the big day and want to share!  They are looking to gift their new or like-new shoes, veils, and accesories to brides in need who may not otherwise be able to buy or wear them.

To participate, there are a few rules!

If you need a bridal item

  • Post your story here in this thread!  Tell us about your wedding, your fiance, and why you need and or would love an item gifted to you by a fellow PW bride!  Please include your shoe size/dress size as applicable, as well as give us a general idea of your overal style and theme!  Feel free to post photos.
  • Please post your wedding date!
  • Be prepared to cover the cost of shipping
  • If a member has something that may work for you, they will contact you privately via PM
  • If you are gifted an item, please make sure to post photos of the item in action at your fittings and wedding!

If you would like to donate a bridal item

  • Items should be a modern bridal style and in new or like-new condition
  • You would be gifting the item to the member and will not get it back
  • The member will pay shipping
  • You get to read through their stories in this thread and decide if you want to contact one of them!  If a members post really speaks to you, and you have something you think they may love and enjoy, send them a PM and include estimated shipping costs.
  • You may also post your item in this thread, but be prepared for a LOT of PM's from brides who want it

RULES:

  • Please be honest
  • PW is not responsible for lost or damaged goods, or failure to deliver
  • I recommend payment of shipping costs be done via Paypal
  •  If you were gifted something, please consider re-gifting it after your wedding!

LOOOOVE THIS!!!  What a wonderful group of ladies!!  Seriously, with the selfish society we have these days, it's things like this that really warm the heart.  How awesome to pay it forward.  I'll be going through my things and seeing what I can gift!

Howdy all!  What a wonderful idea and so many generous women on this board!  I'd like to post my story!

Art (my fiance) and I began dating about four years ago during a cold snowy January.  I was having water issues at my house so he came over to see if he could help.  Long story short he did and it was love after that.

The following year was rough, he was hospitialized for his heart and before I knew it was being rushed to the Ross Heart Hospital at OSU.  They tried medications and all they could, but in the end he need either a transplant, or a fairly new procedure known as an LVAD (this was pre-Dick Chenny lol).  We selected the later after much discussion with his doctor and a couple of folks who had the equipment.  (Just as a note when he had his inplanted he was the second youngest person to have it implanted the first being a newborn baby the device is that new) A LOOOONNNGGG day entailed as he underwent open heart surgery.  The surgery was a sucess and to date he still lives with the device.

Me, I was happily working as a Park Naturalist (for ten years I might add) until low and behold the economy turned to crud and the county decided a county wide building codes department was more important that parks.  Our funding was slashed 53% the first year and an additional 10% the next.  This year we didn't have the carryover to keep our doors open, so I am laid off.  While I am hopeful we will reopen and I go back to work in the spring, I am still laid off. Not fun.

To top that off, my landlord is losing our house and at somepoint we are going to have to move, so with his health (which has been good), my stress and lack of employment and bills extras for the big day are just that extras.

Luckily I started purchasing goodies the minute he put the ring on my finger so the big stuff is obtained, my dress, veil, shoes, etc as well as his stuff, coat, shoes, tie etc.  My Christmas present gift card from Hobby Lobby was used to purchase flowers for the boquets and materials for my bridesmaid's jewelry.  Dollar Tree has become my new favorite place, purchased candy dishes there as well as a few odds and ends.

What I am looking for are paper lanters, lilac, white or silver in color (as those are my colors) or ivory, tulle, pew bows or cake toppers (I am using them as part of the centerpieces), containers for a candy bar, candle sticks, candles for reception decor. ANYTHING for the reception lol.

After our wedding, we will, pay it foward and share the love!

Thanks all for making me feel, just a little better about society!! It's been a really REALLY rough two years and my wedding is helping to keep me sane!!!

Hello again loves.

I don't know how much of my story I have posted, but I am willing to admit when the wedding is getting a wee bit expensive!

FI and I have been dating since July 4th, 2005, when he had just graduated high school and I was a junior. He was leaving in the fall for his bachlors degree, and we decided to see what happened. We started trying long distance, and it seems to have worked out!

Fast foreward to September 2009, when he proposed. It was wonderful, but I told him I wanted to wait until I had finished my degree in Secondary Education, and he agreed. Now the date is set for February 4th, 2012.

I am taking on a lot of DIY projects, but if anyone has any dark purple or blue items for the ceremony or reception they could share, I will totally be paying it foreward!

Thank you so much girls!

Let me start by saying you PW ladies NEVER cease to amaze me...you all go over and above for anyone in need out of the goodness of your hearts and it is amazing!!!!! KUDOS to you ladies seriously your blessings will come 10 fold!!!!! Here is my story:

I have known FI for years since high school but we never really talked. He went off to the military right after high school and ended up getting married (HORRIBLE MARRIAGE) and having 3 little angels come from that union so that was good...currently we live apart in 2 different states and we pay everything together ( I am a single mother as well my dd father passed away right before she turned 2) things were ok at first (so I thought) he didn't tell me everything about what was going on with the kids at first I had to ask...making a long story short the mother does not work and has not worked in some time he pays everything on top of the child support for the kids and she has moved away has not updated the address with him so he has not seen the kids in over 3 months!!!! It has bewcome very hard financially and stressful with paying bills where I am at and him transferring to GA next month and having to pay bills there to get everything setup before we come we are penny pinching...not to mention we are about to forego a custody battle to get the kids...FI wants to give me a wonderful wedding of my dreams but we are having a hard time in light of everything tht is going on, I just want him to have a great wedding as well because the first union was not so great. My mom is heloing in anyway that she can she is and has been a single parent since I was 5 my dad has been in and out of my life since then so I can't really count on him for anything. We are trying to have a modern, elegant, non stuffy wedding colors are fuchsia, platinum, and hints of damask, wedding date is 8/12/11 in GA...anything that you ladies are willing to donate is appreciated more than I could ever tell you...everything will be paid forward after the wedding to more deserving brides I will also go throughsome stuff that I have purchased to see what i have to donate I purchased some things early on and may not need them now.

Thank you ladies in advance again I will look through what I have purchased and donate what I know I will not use.

LuckysBride if the necklace and earrings are still available I think they would work well with my dress.

As you ladies know, I lost my job on March 3rd. My job was paying for my doctorate so after this class I may have to postpone school for a bit so as not to jump back into loans. I still owe a sizable amount from my Masters and my school debt could potentially jeopardize my FIs clearance which would affect a lot for us financially. Of course all of this effort is to better myself and prepare me for some of my future goals but I don't want to put him in that situation. My FI is such a wonderful man and has already been bearing most of the cost of the wedding on his own. I have been doing as much DIY as I can and trying to find deals to save us money since I can't contribute as much financially as he can. His parents promised us money but have not come through and seeing as how they still have to purchase their flights to Jamaica and said the flights are expensive, we're not expecting it to happen. My father promised us money but has since cut that amount in half. My mother is helping us with some things which is a blessing. I feel like I have already changed some things I'd like to do to be practical. I know the most important thing is us getting married, but this is the one and only time we're getting married and we really want it to be special too, kwim? We're not trying to go over the top, we just want a really beautiful day we will look back on for years and think how magical it was. I try not to have to ask anyone for things but it is true we need help. We would be appreciative of anything you ladies would be willing to share.

I am getting married on May 28, 2011 in Montego Bay, Jamaica and my AHR is on June 25, 2011. My colors are kiwi-lime, chocolate and ivory and my accents are turquoise and champagne gold.

LOOKING FOR: I am looking for an ivory veil and wedding day jewelry (a mix of pearls and crystals): bracelet, earrings, necklace.

Ivory table linens

kiwi table runners or squares

chocolate chair covers

Thanks in advance!

I think this is such a great idea!  Here's a little about us - we met at college and we finally deicded to start dating right about the time we finished school. I moved across the country, eventually came back after an internship and moved closer to where he lived. He ended up with a job 4 hours away and had to move, by the time he moved back I had moved out of state....so for the past three years we have gone back and forth with our neverending long-distance relationship!

We both are finishing degrees full-time and working full-time, and with my nursing clinicals we only get to see each other twice a month.  Our wedding is October 1, 2011 and I can't wait!  Our colors are tiffany blue, gray, and blush pink. My dad has been out of work for the past two years and was counting on finding a new job before the wedding - my parents don't feel right asking anyone else for help.   So in the mean time, I am saving as much as I can to help pay for anything I can.  Needless to say if anyone has anything they would be willing to gift me, I would be MORE than willing to return it to them or gift it to another bride after my wedding!!

The things I really need are a crystal type of comb/headpiece that I can put in my hair, an ivory veil, flower petals or "diamond" scatter for our tables - and anything tiffany blue or blush pink!!  Thanks in advanced!!

We are a simple down to earth couple and we are having a very simple wedding.  It is going to be outside and very casual. He is wearing jeans and I want a very simple, lacy dress.  It is going to be fun for everyone.  I would love ot have something from a fellow PW bride because I would love to use that for my something borrowed. Our wedding date is 9-22-12.

LOOKING FOR: An Ivory birdcage veil. I want to have my veil before I buy my dress...is that bad?  I am wanting something simple, just the veil and a comb.  I do not want any flowers, but possibly something with hat or somethign simple.

This is really amazing. I haven't been around much lately, so this is the first time I noticed this thread. I'll definitely look through my things for all of the items I won't be using.

To all the ladies posting stories: Just remember the only thing that really matters is the fact that you will be married at the end of the day. I've come upon some pretty hard times myself which is a big part of why I've been AWOL. We decided to basically cut everything that wasn't essential to us walking away from the day married. It's tough to deal with, but we've come to terms with it. I think that everything happens for a reason, and I'm sure that all of you will have a wonderful day no matter what the budget is. :)

Hi ladies my name is Jennifer I'm 28 years old & a single mom to my beautiful 11 year old daughter Makenzie (which is the light of my eyes). My love Kenny & I met New Years eve of 2006 in Ocotillo Wells (which is a desert in California). We have been trying to plan our wedding for a couple of years but we haven't had the finances to do it. I recently got laid off & that's another reason why we haven't been able to have the wedding of our dreams. We have decided to go to the court house with our immediate family to get married & have a reception/party to follow at our house. We know we don't need a big wedding or reception to show everyone the love we have for each other. I haven't been able to covince my self to spend money on a wedding dress when that money can be spent on things for my daughter.

I would be beyond excited if anyone has anything I could wear to get married in.. that would be my dream to have a dress, vail or anything really.. I wear a size 10/12 in a dress & I wear a size 8- 8 1/2 in shoes..

Thank you for reading my story

If you have any questions feel free to ask me

Thank you

Jennifer

I'm very new to this site, but I hope it's okay if I post here too. :)

Both my FI and I were in long-term marriages before, each lasting over 15 years. However, his ex cheated (and married the other man), and mine was very abusive in many ways that left me quite scarred. Thank God for my FI, who helped put the pieces of my broken psyche back together again.

Now, onto the wedding! :D  The date is set for June 25th, 2011. It's just going to be a small gathering, and since it's the second time around for both of us (though his first was just a very quick and utterly informal JOP wedding with no frills whatsoever), I figure I shouldn't go overboard. But, at the same time, it's a big day for us, and I want to make it as nice as possible.

I finally found a dress--$30 at Ross!--that I think is perfect for what I have in mind. Not formal, but not too casual either. It's long and ivory colored with goldish/bronzish glitter all over. But I'm having trouble finding shoes within my budget to match.

What I'd really like are some gold/bronze strappy heels to wear with my dress. Please let me know if you have a pair you won't use again. I wear about a size 7 1/2 - 8, depending on the fit.

Also, FI likes the idea of me in a veil (so do I, of course), so if anyone has an ivory veil that is maybe either fingertip or elbow length, I'd be very appreciative.

Lastly, I'm trying to find semi-matching dresses for my daughters to wear for the big day. One is roughly a kids size 16/XL, and the other is about a misses size 14/XL. I would love somewithing with lavender or purple, but beggars can't be choosers, right? :) Anything pastel (and matching or semi-matching) would be awesome. I realize it's a long shot, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I will most certainly pay for shipping, of course, and then re-offer them back here after the ceremony. Thank you so much!

Oh man.. I love this thread so much :)

I've been such a hoarder with my wedding items, but I'm ready to part with them now..  No use being "unused" in my house :)

I know it may not be everyone's style, but I am willing to gift my wedding gown.  It's sleeveless, empire waist, scallop top with a "tulle/lace" overlay.. MANY photos in my bio :)  It's a size 6 and has been altered a tiny bit.  PM me if you are interested :) :) :)

I also have a beautiful, one tier cathedral white veil with petals sewn on it in whites and pinks.  You can see it in my TTD teasers :)  If you need more photos, let me know :)

Here is another item photo 2817405-1

I do not remember the style number, but it is a two-tiered crinoline slip.  I bought this to wear under my dress, but decided against it.  PM me if interested.

UPDATE:  The Style Number is Style 9603W.
