PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP! ! ! !

PROJECT BRIDAL SWAP!

The ladies of PW have some amazing shoes, veils, and accesories.  Some of them bought too much for the big day and want to share!  They are looking to gift their new or like-new shoes, veils, and accesories to brides in need who may not otherwise be able to buy or wear them.

To participate, there are a few rules!

If you need a bridal item

  • Post your story here in this thread!  Tell us about your wedding, your fiance, and why you need and or would love an item gifted to you by a fellow PW bride!  Please include your shoe size/dress size as applicable, as well as give us a general idea of your overal style and theme!  Feel free to post photos.
  • Please post your wedding date!
  • Be prepared to cover the cost of shipping
  • If a member has something that may work for you, they will contact you privately via PM
  • If you are gifted an item, please make sure to post photos of the item in action at your fittings and wedding!

If you would like to donate a bridal item

  • Items should be a modern bridal style and in new or like-new condition
  • You would be gifting the item to the member and will not get it back
  • The member will pay shipping
  • You get to read through their stories in this thread and decide if you want to contact one of them!  If a members post really speaks to you, and you have something you think they may love and enjoy, send them a PM and include estimated shipping costs.
  • You may also post your item in this thread, but be prepared for a LOT of PM's from brides who want it

RULES:

  • Please be honest
  • PW is not responsible for lost or damaged goods, or failure to deliver
  • I recommend payment of shipping costs be done via Paypal
  •  If you were gifted something, please consider re-gifting it after your wedding!

Here is my story......

My Fiance is from New York, and I am from Minnesota. We met and New York, where we are living and will continue to live after the wedding. We are both huge New York Islander fans and that is actually how we met, as we were both out to a bar watching the game, and he came over and spoke to me when he realized I was a female hockey fan :)

Since we both have big families, and we both have family members that can not drive(My grandmother is handicapped, and his grandparents are older) we want them all to be able to see us get married and celebrate this special day with us. So we are doing two weddings. All you brides out there know how expensive it is to have one wedding, so you can imagine the stress we are going through, planning and paying for two of them.

Becuase we are having to pay for two meals, two receptions and two ceremonies. The smaller details, and especially my accessories(Viel, Jewlery, Shoes, Flowers) we are cutting corners on them as much as we can.

Our theme is New York Islanders, with our colors being Orange and Blue. My dress is going to be Ivory, being a plus size I am having trouble finding one but I know when I do I want it to be ivory, we are also trying to pay off the receptions before I start dress shopping.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read my story. I can promise you if you have any items that you would like to gift to me, that it will be greatly appreciated, and a great help, I will also promise to regift it after I am done with it.

My clothing size is a 20, and my shoe size is a 8.5 but can sometimes fit into an 8 or a 9.

Thanks Again, God Bless

Congratulations to our New brides and Upcoming Brides. Just sharing another DIY project. Rough draft but you can add to it. Probably cost less than $3 the most $5.

bath sponge (net), fabric, broach, (i used 9crystal beads on an ornament hook) it is secured to the head with a bobby pin but would prefer a comb. piece of 2" square sample fabric.  10mins max. it will get even faster the more you make. this one has no glue but you can certainly use glue if it will be a permanent piece.

Perfect - something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue project.

YOU CAN DO IT! HAVE FUN. YOU CAN INVITE THE GIRLS OVER AND MAKE A FEW OF THEM. BE creative!

Hair piece.

Congratulations to our New photo 2974426-1 really got to get a better camera...lol

I'm getting married on October 14, 2011.  My fiance and I have been engaged for over a year, and I'm so excited to finally become his wife!  I'm searching for a two tier, ivory fingertip length veil, that's not excessively poofy.  I'm somewhat petite, so a huge veil wouldn't look very good on me.  I need it to be simple, since my dress is pretty elaborate.  Anybody have anything I can look at?

Hi ladies,

I thought this thread was a great idea but I don't like asking for things so never thought I would write up my own little story. I'm running very low on funds and still need a crinoline for my wedding in August.  It would need to be a smaller one, something low puff that will still able to hold it's shape.  Currently I'm relying on my moms from 30 years ago.

FI and I met when we were 19, we've been together for 6 years and have been through more together already than many people ever have to deal with. We had a son born with myelodysplasia which has required that I be a stay at home mom and coordinate his many doctors appointments and surgeries.  He's our oldest at 5 now, we have a younger son who just turned 3 and a daughter who will be 2 this summer.  FI had a good job that enabled us to buy a house and him to start his own business on the side, which failed in under a year.  He decided to go to college and has been going to school full time and working full time for 4 years now, he'll be done with his bachelors in another year. When the economy tanked his good job turned into a bad job quickly and we lost our house.  We moved out of state 6 months ago so that he could take one of the better internships his school offered and we'll have to move back again for him to finish a few classes in another 6 months.  Meanwhile, we're planning a wedding for back home so that most of our family can attend.

He proposed to me a year ago and we had originally planned on getting married after he graduated but we just couldn't wait anymore!  Aside from the "we just want to be married, already" feelings, my sister was diagnosed with cancer in November and a month later my mom was told her kidney disease has put her on the fast track towards a transplant.  My sister is doing great now, but we really don't know how it's all going to work out for my mom and I need her there on my wedding day.

So - no more waiting for me! But it has been a whirlwind since deciding to go ahead with this in February.  We haven't been able to save like we wanted to and most of our income for the next few months is budgeted.  If someone could help me out with a crinoline I would be extremely grateful, and would of course pay it forward after my own wedding is over.

My story is not as rough as some of the others I read, but here goes. This is my second marriage and the first for my fiance. I recently moved back to Florida from Hawaii,my rd is a Marine, ance met my FI online. We talked for a while before we met and there was an instant connection, the first time I saw him I knew I loved him. In 10 years either my ex I never felt the love I do now. My amazing FI has accepted and loves me and my two boys, they will be 3 & 6 in July.

I have just started my life over, and my FI had a bad relationship prior to me where she stole his savings and everything. I never got the big wedding, and never thought I wanted one until now. We are doing a country laid back style wedding. Simple.and small but we don't have anything for the wedding yet. We are getting married January 28, 2012.

I'm very big on paying it forward and helping others, and usually do the helping instead of asking for help, but my ex has taken everything I collected over the last 10 years of my life, and am completely starting over, so I need help where I can get it :)

Thank you in advance. :)

I am going to put my story out there as well...

My name is Ginger, my fiance' is Eric. It really was love at first sight. :) I ran across his profile in MySpace and asked him if he wanted to get together for a casual dinner. He never responded. :( Two weeks later he sent me a message, apologizing for the delay because he never checks his MySpace email. He said he would love to hang out. So..we did.  We met up at a local Chinese restaurant for dinner. You guys..it was amazing. I never felt that feeling before, but I had butterflies! It was like I was in a trance! His eyes are so amazing. :) I NEVER jump into relationships, but it just felt right. We moved in together a montha fter we met. lol We have been living together for over a year and everything hasbeen perfect. We both work full time and we manage to make ends meet but we have absolutely no extra. I'm also in college full time to get a better paying job. It's quite hard becuase I work night shift and have to leave work and head straight to school-2 hours away. He works evening shift so he sleeps alone 5 nights a week. I miss the dickens out of him until our off days come along. Thank goodness we have it worked out to where we have our days off together. Anyway, we got engaged last December and I immediately started planning our wedding. I knew it would have to be on a budget because neither of our parents would be able to help out. So...we are paying for everything ourselves. All planning was going well until I lost my job in January.  I was out of work for a whole month before I found another job. A job that pays much less than what I was making. So..needless to say, all my wedding dreams had to be cut in half. We were just making ends meet before, and for the last 4 months the salary dropped. I have used up all the money I had in savings to purchase used items on here as well as weddingbee.com and it has helped out a lot. I bought my dress on ebay-used. It's not the dress I'm in love with, but it will work. I REALLY wanted one with pickups and a pretty bodice. A fit and flare type of gown. I'm a street size 18, wedding dress size 20.

    More about my wedding..

It's going to be outdoors, at my mother's house because a real venue was not in the budget. It's country themed. Mason jars, twine, burlap. Comfortable but pretty. :) My colors are soft reds, oranges, and tans.  I have pretty much everything I need for decorations. Those were the first things I bought before I got fired.  I'm on the lookout for wood slabs at a REALLY good price. I already told you about my ebay dress. I am settling with shoes from payless, but haven't bought them yet. Again, not what I want but it's what I can afford. I wear a 9.5 in shoes. I'm not doing a veil, I really want to go with a nice hair flower- still trying to find one of those in my budget as well. I am borrowing my jewelry, so that is taken care of.  I still need a longline bra in 38-40DD. Pretty much what I need is for myself and I feel guilty even saying it! I've put the budget towards everything else though.

Oh! and my wedding is October 8th. I hope this thread stays alive because I would love to give back once my wedding is over. This is such a nice idea.

take care-ginger

*edit* I have some DIY stuff if anyone is interested. I have 30 unfinished wood napkin rings and a couple 'thank you' stamps. It's not much, but I won't have anything good until after the wedding. PM me if you are in need of these items.

@mrssmith- I consider myself crafty lol All the decor I've done myself to make the wedding less expensive. I wrapped twine around mason jars for the centerpieces...mason jars were donated by my family. :) I'm going to stick some silk flowers in them. I'm still looking to add a couple things though. I was thinking about wood slabs to set everything on but I'm having trouble finding anyone around here with the ability to cut wood like that. I saw some online but I am certainly not payin $12 each! That's crazy. It's a tree!

@ginger the flowers for your hair are actually pretty easy to make and you can personalize it too like you could put a blue stone in for your something blue or something. Check out micheals or even joann fabrics for the pieces, and take pictures for your inspiration when you go shop. My friend is making mine for my wedding bc she loves to do it!! A little hot glue goes along way lol

This is gone! Thank you! :)

Free dress! :)

Okay, this may be weird, but I've been trying to sell my old wedding gown (found it when cleaning out things) but without any interest. Now that I'm getting married in 11 days (Yay!), I *really* don't want it here. So hopefully someone out there can use it.

It's a Demetrios Princess Collection gown in a size 12.
Approx measurements:
20" across, one way, from underarm to underarm
58"-60" long, from top of shoulder to bottom hem (I'm 5'4")
Train is long. Has all the little snaps and whatnots to bustle it too.

I never had it cleaned (sorry!), but I did keep it in a bag in storage for, um, 16 years, and when I pulled it out a couple of months ago to look at it, I noticed that it still looked like it was in excellent condition. One pretty faint mark on train that would probably come out with a cleaning. No tears or rips or anything like that though. From smoke free home too. No petticoat, though, sorry.

Really big and pretty, lots of bows, long train, very traditional sort of style.

Was originally around $1000 (back in 1994!) Just cover shipping, and it's yours! :)

Okay, so now that my wedding is less than a year away, I feel I can post here.

My fiance, Stephen, and I met in high school. We fell in love at a school dance my sophomore year, when we had gone to the dance together because we didn't want to risk going with someone else who might want a relationship. (It was the "safe" date.)

Now, we are both college students. I go to a small private university and am studying journalism and English, and he just transferred from the same university to a community college (the u doesn't have his program) to study early childhood education/children's studies. We are so in debt over school (both paying our own way).

We have a $7000 budget. We are paying $3000 and my parents $4000. We are having a Old European Carnival style wedding, and have been blessed to find some great deals (venue, catering). Some things we need:

  • birdcage or similar (for cards)

  • yellow vintage-style heels, size 7

  • white, yellow, or green chiffon fabric

  • white, yellow, or green poof balls or paper lanterns

  • milk glass pieces

  • wood slices

Thanks for all of the PW love. PW has been part of my life since before my engagement, and I just love it.

This reminds me of my "Something Borrowed" group. Being that I'm no longer as active as I use to be the group sort of fell to the wayside. But its definitely a good feeling to know you're helping fellow PW'ers who are in need.

Hi everyone! My name’s Nicole, My fiancé is Pete. I’m 20 & he is 22 years old. We have been BEST friends since sophomore year in high school. We both always had a thing for each other but didn’t start dating until 2 years after high school. Shortly after we started dating, he proposed! I said yes!! <3 We planned a date for later that year. Not long after that, we found out we were expecting! So we decided it would be best to postpone the wedding until after the baby came. My pregnancy tested our faith and love in one another. About 20 weeks along we were told our baby would be born with a mental defect, & that it would be “best” to terminate the pregnancy… by that time we had seen our baby 4 times through ultrasound, heard his heartbeat numerous more times than that, had been feeling him move for weeks! Our decision was to keep the baby, the baby we called Lukas! Lukas was born April 28th 2011, a HEALTHY, 7 lbs 9 oz & 20 inch long, beautiful, baby boy! Being faced with a decision like that, brought us closer together, made us love one another more than ever, and made us appreciate our life and the life of our unborn baby. Mental defect or not, he would be a precious gift, a gift we would care for, for the rest of our lives. <3

We plan on getting married August 18th, 2012! Sounds like a long time but as I’ve been told it’s not. Ever since I’ve been a little girl I’ve dreamed of my perfect wedding! As I’m sure every little girl has. Now that it is approaching I’m nervous it won’t be special. Shortly after Lukas was born, my fiancé was given a very good job opportunity making good money, but 40 minutes from our home. He took the job, and things began to go down hill. Our car broke down a few times causing him to call in, in turn getting him fired. Right now, he is trying to find another job, but with this economy its really hard. We both still want to get married, he has said we could go to the court house, but like I said I want it to be a special day.

Thankfully my mom has offered to buy my dress, and both our families are helping with food. The rest we have to do on our own. Thank you to anyone who has read this far, and would like to donate anything! I really appreciate it!

The colors we are going with is light green & light blue. My shoe size is 6! (:
