great article.  i get married in 6 days and i spent the morning ditching out on my diy projects and opting for starbucks and the newspaper.  soooooo nice.

wow ladies this is so weird as I will be getting married in 6days too. I envy u guys as I still seem to have an endless amount of things to do. Tomorrow is my last day at work and I hope I get everything done! Good luck to you and best wishes!!

6 DAYS AND COUNTING AS WELL!!!! :-} I've been tackling every obstacle that has come my way for months and still going strong. One of my BMs actually brought me waaaaayyyy down today and I had to ask her not to come to the wedding. Yet through it all, my head is held high and I cannot wait to start my life with my wonderful husband. I wish you all a wonderful wedding and a blessed marriage. Hope everything works out better than any of us can imagine :-} I agree that you have to take time for you...whenever you can, however you can. Don't let anyone or anything steal your joy. I also agree that meditation helps. Take it from a bride with one fiery temper. If it can help me, I'd say it works for just about anyone. Best wishes, ladies.

6 days here as well.  So tired of people coming to me with their problems and drama.  I just want to enjoy the planning and enjoy the day.  I am trying to think positive only--not working so far but I will keep trying.  Good luck and best wishes on your day Ladies

I too have 6days!! I have been tested in more ways than one the past few days. Salon appointment yesterday and the colorest dyed my roots orange. Fiance tried to update my I-tunes on my I-phone and deleted EVERYTHING! Every wedding vendor contact, notes, calendar...but I still love him and can't wait for our day. Car wreck on Monday, car battery died Wednesday and basketball goal fell on my car Saturday morning before hair appointment. Needless to say I have not had any Bridezilla momments...I just laugh and say what next...maybe I should stop saying that!! Good luck to all!!

I think that the spa day especially is a good one, because you can't physically do anything but relax in a place like that. There are no DIY projects or any wedding related items at a spa; I'm definitely booking myself one closer to the time.

If you only have a moment or two: Breathe in slowly thru your nose and then breathe out of your mouth even slower.  Do this 5 times.  Then smile. Studies have shown that even a fake smile releases good chemicals into the brain.  And eventually fake smiled turn into real ones!


If you have 5 minutes or so:  Visualize something that happened in the past that made you laugh or made you feel great.  (For me it's a beach on Maui.)  Then visualize something happy, funny, or wonderful you wish for the future.  Studies have shown that just remembering or anticipating something good has the same positive effect neurologically as actually experiencing something good!  The brain can't tell the difference!  So even if you're stressed, you can stop the stress and change your brain chemistry. 


Notice everything that is going right.  Notice how beautiful those flowers are.  Have an attitude of gratitude.  Focus on the good, ignore the bad.


Compliment someone or do something nice for someone for no reason.  Doing something nice for another person actually makes us feels better.  And we don't need studies to know that that is true. 


Be happy!  You are so blessed by so many people who love you.  Have a great one!
