I agree we are going away to Kauai to get married. Only those that can pay for their own trip out will come.  Combining wedding/honeymoon makes great budget sense. Found great rates at Kauai Vacation Rentals, especially on Wednesdays.

i agree. have a quick wedding at Vegas or at a courthouse and just have a non-civil ceremony for your destination wedding - makes everything easier especially with paperworks and requirements.

grab hotel packages as well. they will save you time and energy.

We're from Hawaii and decided on a destination wedding in Paris, France for a number of different reasons.  1) If we did a local wedding, we'd be expected to invite extended family in addition to friends, coworkers, etc, which would make the headcount at least 400.  In Paris, we're only expecting 22 and have capped the total headcount at 24 (we all will fit comfortably on one banquet table).  We'll do the legal part at home first and then do the 2) The cost of our entire wedding, including airfare and accommodations, is less than half of what it would be to hold a large wedding at home.  Plus, we'll get the romance of Paris and a much more intimate celebration with those that mean the most to us.  3) It's Paris!  To us, a beach wedding is part of the norm for living in Hawaii so this will give us an opportunity to do something different and very romantic in our eyes.  We're doing a modified sand ceremony to connect us with home and have asked all of our guests to bring a handful of sand with them from where they're from.  Everyone's sand will be mixed to symbolize the support of our friends and family, our union and also a way for those who couldn't make it to still be a part of our wedding.

Our destination wedding was in Sedona, az. It was a great time with 20 of our relatives and friends. Some things can be planned & some things you have to let go of and hope turn out right.
