Just adding a comment, since someone suggested I needed to do that to get it to post correctly.

Oh!  that is truely beautiful.  And how special that you made it yourself.  I would save embroider the names and date on it and save it to pass down...but that's traditional me!

It looks wonderful, Mazel Tov. I wanted to make my own as well, thinking bamboo in a planter and covering with sheer fabric. Did you have someone transport to the temple or ceremony location?

tiffanimai, we're going to take it to the synagogue ourselves.  It folds down to a small size that can easily be put into a car and carried around.  We have the synagogue for two hours before the ceremony starts, and will be having our hair/make-up done there.  The chuppah can be put up by one person in about 5 minutes, so setting it up will not be a big deal.

What a great idea!  I have also used a table cloth and a talis.

I am not jewish, but love the chuppahs.  I think that they are much prettier than the arches that I see.  Not sure if I'm handy enough to make something like that.  The end result was beautiful, though!

I agree with Soflgrl, they are beautiful and take the cake over arches.
