LOVE IT! I am serving Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits because I hate working with yeast. Again, this is a tea wedding reception.

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F

Grease 9" round OR springform and set aside

2 cups sifted all purpose flour + 1 cup to sprinkle on surface

1TBS baking powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 vegetable oil

3/4 cup buttermilk You can make this with lemon juice and whole milk

8 TBS or 1 stick Butter softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla/almond extract

1/8 tsp cardamom (flavor enhancer) Optional

Combine Flour, baking powder and baking soda and sift together to mix

stir buttermilk and extracts until well combined

slowly add dry ingredients to the wet until combined well.

You can now switch to a dough hook or knead dough on a lightly floured surface

Roll into a rectangle 15 x 8 inches

spread butter over the dough

combine sugar and spices and mix well

Sprinkle evenly over dough

Roll like you would a jelly roll and SLICE 1.5" wide slices

Place in baking pan bake until lightly browned 15 to 20 minutes

you can make a powdered sugar glaze or use frosting if you desire

  • 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar

  • 3 tablespoons milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla extract

lorna247 They are actually Rolls like the Pilsbury Dough They just do not have yeast. They are very soft and tender. I am making those tonight for the kids for breakfast tomorrow. I will take pics and post.

If you make a day a head just lightly spray/butter outside of the rolled dough and seal in plastic wrap Do not cut the rolls until you are ready to bake to prevent drying out.
