What a cute idea - but how time consuming would this be? And is it possible to prep these ahead of time and freeze them? That would help with the time issue!

The cakes are really simple to make, and not time-consuming at all.  Freezing is a great idea to plan ahead!

Has anyone tried them with fudge instead of cake?

Very cute.  Do they not dry out since there's no icing around the edges to keep them moist?

I did this with fudge (before I ever saw this article. . .total coincidence) and they were a HUGE hit.  I used flower picks (bridal aisle, Michael's) as the 'topper' and they were super cute!

So cute.  I think I'll do that with brownies.

My only fear is that my guests will stick the whole thing in their mouth without realizing there's a tootpick in the middle.

i was wondering how anyone was packaging these? Have you all been doing boxes or just like a paper wrapping?

I think boxes would be the easiest way to do it.

This would be so much less time consuming too, because you could make a number of favors from one cake.

This would be an awesome entry into the Instructables DIY Wedding contest! All you'd need to do is upload the photos and text you already have for a chance to win some awesome prizes.
