I'm the Mother of the Bride.  I had to chuckle just a bit.  Yes, I'm probably driving my daugter crazy...AND at times she drives me crazy...it's just the nature of our relationship!  But we're very, very close and she totally trusts me and knows that if I'm involved with planning the most important day of her life, no detail will be missed, nothing will be inappropriate or distasteful.  I have taken a load off of my daughter's back and she's appreciative.  She has a "high powered" job and not a lot of time.  And yes, I have been known to manipulate her into making the decisions I think that she should...but she doesn't know that...she always thinks its her idea!!!LOL

Nice Post!

My dad is just having trouble letting me go! He can't believe his little girl (only child!) is all grown up. Oh, did I mention I'm 32?!? :)

Hehehe. I guess I'm lucky so far! Our families are interested in what's happening, but don't want all the little details and they don't want a say in it either. Bliss.

My biggest problem is that my parents are giving us a lot of money for the wedding, and because of this my mom wants to invite all of her friends, all of her colleagues (who I have met 1 time since we now live in different states), family from other countries, and family my parents speak to once a year. But because they are paying for a majority, they (and not to mention EVERYONE else) are telling me that they have every right. But I think because it's my wedding they shouldn't invite people I don't know or they don't even talk to, but apparently I'm wrong because of the money thing.

So far this wedding experience is the most stressful experience of my life, and it's because of my parents. They are divorced and refusing to come to our destination wedding for different BS reasons. Honestly, it's starting to look like eloping would have been a better idea!

My dad just told me if I dont invite certain people (he is a pastor) so by that he mean his members he wont come.  Too bad stay home you and them, because your not paying a dime and they wont be there to celebrate my time.

My parents are great, but my dad has kind of a "higher than thou" attitude and has recommended that I haggle with my venue's marketing people because someone he knows visits the venue frequently and says "they need the business"..even though all of the weekends are booked months in advance. during the week, not so much, but I'm not having a wedding on a weeknight when everyone has to leave early to get up for work the next morning. Additionally, the venue is owned by the city so there isn't much room for haggling. He's also familiar with our caterer (a national restaurant chain--my dad is the guy that walks in, asks the waiter if he knew about the CEO getting married when clearly the waiter doesn't care about that) and is trying to haggle with them too. Don't get me wrong, I love getting a good deal and spending less money in the process, but his antics can be embarrassing!

The only issue I'm running into is my mom doesn't feel my fianc? should have a say in anything except the tuxs and menu. She feels this is my wedding not his, when in actuality it's OUR wedding. She thinks it she only be a mother daughter thing, I invite her but she doesn't like it when my fianc? voices his opinion or asks a question. She feels he should be surprised about everything. Ugh

My parents are divorced, and they are both OBSESSED with how much money the other is putting in and what they are paying for. My mom asks me almost daily what my dad is going to pay for and how much it is and blah blah blah. I feel like telling them I will pay for it all just so I don't have to hear questions like that anymore!
