I updated my bio to include more details on materials used and how I assembled the trees.

Thanks AMiller :)  A few guests wanted to take a tree home.  One guest took a tree (with my blessing) and plans to use it as a unique display for the jewelry store she manages.  The rest of the trees are decorating various places in my house.  I'm so glad I only did enough for half the tables...otherwise our entire house would be filled with them, lol!!!

Genae, you could substitute the manzanita branches with something similar thats available in your area.  The branch is only part of the beauty...the crystals and other embellishments are really what make them so pretty.

I'd try a local florist and any large craft store.  Sorry, I don't know any off the top of my head in your area :(  If you know of a good florist, ask them...if they don't have them they can either order or purchase through any of their suppliers.

Genae, how about a plant nursery? And if they don't, ask them...I'm sure they will know who in your area does.

Itsnicsknack, loved your trees....completely inspired by them ;)

Hey, I have a question. When you cut the curtain don't the rest of the beads fall off? Cheers

No the rest of the beads don't fall off of the curtain.  Each one is on there seperately and for good.  Just make sure you get the curtain from wildthings.com.  I got the plastic crystals and they're gorgeous.  Believe me, they're a whole heck of alot cheaper than anything else you'll buy.  Unless your making 1 tree (I'm making 20) then I'd buy all expensive Crystals.  I also hung votives in mine.  I love it.

I used spray foam insulation to hold the branches in place.

I don't understand this part of the process - I thought the branches were taped at the bottom to the vase?

KT86, Just as MommyLynda posted, the crystals do not fall off when the strand is cut.  The acrylic beads are securely attached to the strand rather than "strung" on.  I can only speak for the crystals I purchased from www.shopwildthings.com, since that is what I used.

CarmaroGirl,  I used blue painter's tape to temporarily hold the branch in place while I filled the base/urn with the spray foam insulation.  Imagine a grid of tape across the top opening of the base/urn of tape.  It was my quick and simple way to hold the branch in place without me holding it for an hour while the foam insulation dried, lol!  Once the base/urn was completely filled with dry foam insulation, I removed the painter's tape.  Tape would not be strong enough to secure the branches permanently within the base.  Sorry for any confusion.  I hope this clarifies the process I used.  Feel free to PM if you'd like.

LOL I just had a bit of a disaster. I didn't read that the foam expanded. And well, it was overflowing out of my urn :S lol and it is some seriously sticky stuff. I'm picking it off my fingers as I type rofl.

First of all, I  love this idea!!!!!

I went on the website http://www.bloomsandbranches.com/ and am not sure what the proper height I should get?  I am thinking about the 18"-24" and I am curious what you used?
