I was glad to find this on the website.  My controlling cousin could visualize what I was saying.

I'd love to do these but how far ahead can you make these? I wouldn't want to be making centerpieces a day before my wedding.

What could I put in the vase that I could make weeks in advance? Would the petals last for, say, 3 weeks??

@sxyshandy, I would put them together ahead of time, depending on the type of place your getting married at the event manager and crew are suppose to help. That way you can either set them up so all they have to do is add water, or give detailed instructions for how they are suppose to do it. Ive worked at a wedding venue before where the manager sets up (water and all), and thats how it is where im having my wedding too. You can always add a picture saying this is what I want it to look like. Hope that helps!

@dejohnla thanks so much! i hope we can have the caterer or coordinator do that for us. i just have to go check out prices for vases - if they actually will come out cheaper. or if it might be cheaper to do a mini ferrero-like croquembouche centerpiece

So anyone know how they keep the flowers from floating to the top?

Supposedly you can use fishing weights.  I tried, but the bride didn't want rocks in the bottom.  In the end we used silk white sweetpeas.  You couldn't tell the difference.  Silk tends to stay down due to the weight of the stems.  I have also heard there is an aquarium glue you can use.  I liked the silk as they were done weeks ahead of time and we just added the water.  (best to have measuring cups and let who ever is setting up know how much water to put in.  We had floating candles and if you put too much water in, when you drop the candle in, it can overflow!)

I love that you can cut your flower budget so dramatically by using submerged flowers.

I plan on doing the three different sized cylinders for my wedding.  I shopped around online for the best price and this is what I found.

I hope this helps out.  I can't wait to get them!!!
