Great advice! My fiance and I plan to open up shared checking and savings accounts to pay for bills and to save for our family's future.  However, we'll still retain our personal checking accounts for our "allowance" money. :-)

We have a joint account and kept our seperate accounts as well.  It makes things some much nicer.

After 20 years of marriage I can tell you that I believe this may be ok for some, but it also leads to temptations and issues of trust.

I think you need to keep lines of communication open and that includes how and when money is spent. We take cash out and buy gifts for each other and if I spend less than I just put it back, or if I want to spend more than I will talk to him about that.

I also have found that making sure we kiss in the morning and at night before bed really helps with our intimacy. It is easy to even be too tired to think about this simple act, but a good night kiss helps me sleep better.

I wish you the best on your new journey through marriage!
