Spring/Summer 2012 Baby Bumps!

***Pwani20***

I saw you mention that you're a pharmacist, and I have a question if you don't mind giving me your input. My 3 year old son has chicken pox, and DH picked up some kids benadryl at Walgreens. The pharmacist told him that it was ok to give him 1 teaspoon every 6 hours even though it says not for kids under 4. I put a call in to the dr, but who knows when they'll get back to me. Does this sound normal/ok to you? Thanks for any help!

Hi Julie! Yes, it does. My 23 month old is using benadryl right now actually. Most over the counter meds have the label for 4 or 6 and older but you can use a reduced dose on younger kids for some of them. The benadryl might make him super drowsy so get ready for a really sleepie kid! I would also get some calamine lotion to help ease the itching. HTH! :D

BTW, sorry it took me practically a whole day to get back to you. I had CRAZY meetings at work yesterday so I barely got on here. :/  (Dang work getting in the way of my PDub life...)

Thanks for the answer. :) It did definitely knock him out, but it helped with the itching as well.
