Tease your hair really really good with a comb and then put lots and lots of hair spray in it! Go to youtube.com and type in "How to tease hair" and there are tuns of videos of girls showing you how.

I realize you posted this in November, but I just saw this!

So I guess this is for future reference for anyone who wants to know!

I have super flat, straight hair but my wedding MUA/Hairstylist managed to make my hair big... I was shocked my hair could do that! I also watch a ton of YouTube, so I've learned a few tricks from beauty gurus.

Of course start with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner of your choice.

When your hair is still wet out of the shower, spray a volumizing heat protector like Arimino's Spice Mist in Volume Up from roots to ends.

I also use Peace Chocolate Milk on the roots to the middle and Peace Cafe Au Lait Hair Whip, from the middle to the ends. These maintain volume and keep your hair shiny, the hair whip creates a flexible hold. And they both are supposed to act as a heat protectant. You can use any hair serums you find that are volumizing, the Peace products aren't widely available and only sold in select salons or in Japan.

After blow drying, heat up extra large hot rollers. My MUA told me that your hair will have curl memory and that she likes to put in hot rollers before using a curling iron on them. I use the largest available for extra volume. I also let them set for an hour, others might not need them to set as long, but my hair is stubborn.

As far as curling irons, I use a 1.5 inch rod. I've learned that my hair does not hold a curl whatsoever when I use a metal iron, but that could be me. So I've switched to ceramic, and it works!

I use the Cortex 4 in 1 Ceramic Clipless Curling Iron. Sometimes I use a ceramic flat iron to curl my hair and it works too, the curl holds all day.

After curling, I hold the curl in place with my (heat protectant gloved) hand and let the curl cool before moving onto the next section. You can also pin it up and let it cool that way.

I also shake out the curls so they're softer. For my TTD shoot, my MUA let my hair stay in "Shirley Temple curls" until we reached our destination, to let the curls have a better hold.

I use Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play hairspray for hold, but not a crunchy hold.

At the end of curling, spray your hair upside down. When right side up, hold your hair out while spraying. (As in lift it up, level to your ears.) That should help the volume out.

And of course teasing. I use a teasing brush instead of a comb for the roots, I find that it grabs more hair. For extra hold, first spray the roots with a dry shampoo or Big Sexy Hair teasing powder, tease and then hair spray it in place.

To make the rest for your hair bigger, you can try using a wide tooth comb on the middle of your hairshaft and tease it, but being careful not to make it look like a rat's nest. (Which is why I suggest a wide tooth comb.)

My husband hates it when I do this, he likes my superflat straight hair. BLAHHH!!

Sorry that spacing is all weird, I copy and paste from a text file. I tried to fix it but it insists double spacing is the bee's knees.
