Question about booking salon

Hi ladies! So I think I may have posted about this before but couldn't find where and now that I have more specifics, I want to ask again. I'm going to book the salon for my bridesmaids and I to get our hair and make-up done the day of the wedding. The ceremony is at 5:30 so what time should I make the appointment for? I have 6 bridesmaids and my mom is coming too, so that makes for 8 people total. I want to make sure we have PLENTY of time to get out of there, back to wherever and ready. I am so worried about being rushed so I'm thinking I want it to be earlier but also don't want to be too early so then we are waiting around. I feel like for other weddings I was in everything took about 2 hours but there weren't as many people either. Thoughts?!

What time can you/are you getting to the venue?

We had 9 people at the salon getting hair and makeup done. We could get to our venue at 1pm. I THINK (I dont actually remember anymore! lol) that we got to the salon at 10am. We were about 15-30 min behind, but nothing too crazy. I say 9or10am. GL!

Well, For a 2:00pm ceremony my friend who is also wedding hair-stylist had himself and a helper for 8 people and it started at 9:30 am to trim if they needed it, Give a base set of curls and then create a unique hair style for each.

It depends on what each girl is having done.

Are there going to be a few stylists for you and your girls?  I had my hair and one of my BM's hair done 3 hours before our ceremony.  If you know what each girl is going to have done to their hair, as well as what you want done, you should be able to contact the salon, give them that information and they should be able to give you an approximate time of when to arrive at the salon.

HTH!!!

I am going to bump this for you for more suggestions. I didn't get my hair done because it was too hot on the day of and my bridesmaid got their hair done early morning at their own respective salons.

I would ask the salon about how long they take per person, then figure out how long it will take you to get there and back. We had 5 people total, got there at 8 or 8:30, didn't need to start getting ready until noon and we were back in plenty of time to eat and chill. And that was with a 20 minute drive there and back. HTH!

Are you planning on having your photographer take any getting ready photos? I would recommend talking to them in regards to your time line.

Good luck :)

I agree a getting ready photo session that is candid is much better than the fake getting ready that we ended up doing.

Ditto all the great advice already given - it totally depends on how many hair/makeup people will be helping and the style of makeup and hair.  Just for comparison, our ceremony was at 3 and there was 5 girls in total having their hair and makeup done.  We had one hairstylist and one MUA - they started at 7am and were done by 1pm because they both had another wedding to do.

It seems super early, BUT the pace was fantastic and we were all able to really enjoy getting ready without feeling rushed and of course, we had more than enough time for our photog to take "getting ready" photos, as well as "detail" photos before we all headed to the church!  HTH!
