Got a question for the rustic DIY bride LauraSweet? Ask here!
Ok so more of a statement - But I love how crafty you are! I wish I could be like that!
Aw, thanks. I'm such a copycat, though! I get all my inspirations from other girls here on PW! Lucky for me, nobody coming to my wedding has seen any of it, so they don't know what a copycat I am!
LOL I'm a copycat too. I'm not creative at all! My mom would love me to paint like she does, but I just can't! So I copy too LOL
lol.. hey isn't that the reason for PW so we can all look like total geniuses ?!?
Laura.. what is your favorite ice cream?
Hmm....my favorite ice cream....hard to say, but if I'm going to one of the ice cream shops where they have mix-ins and stuff, I like to get half chocolate, half cheesecake with cookie dough mixed in. Or I love strawberry with big chunks of real strawberries. Yum! Darn it....now you've made me crave ice cream! LOL
Ooooo that sounds good Laura!
hehe.. now you've made me crave ice cream too..
Are you buying or making your own wedding cake (Since you are oh-so super talented with cakes)??
I am making it, but it's super simple....and small. Then we're having other desserts on the dessert table, and I'm going to allow others to help with that. haha
I am having a dry reception because most of my mom's side of the family has a drinking problem (especially my mom, she is like 7 months sober) & I just do not want to go down that road... So we were thinking that instead of cocktail hour our guest could have their pictures taken with out fabric backdrop & enjoy an old fashioned soda fountain with a snack? Is that acceptable? Like if you were my guest would you be ok with that? TIA!!
I think that's an awesome idea! I would like that a lot more than actual cocktails, personally. You have a good reason for not serving alcohol, so I wouldn't think a thing about it.
What are you going to serve at the soda fountain? I can't wait to see how it all turns out!
I found my inspiration for the soda fountain in a PW ARTICLE as for a snack I am unsure, because my reception is all desserts... so maybe fruits? idk!
If you're having a dessert reception, I'd go with something non-sweet as a snack during your soda-fountain-hour. I'll try to think of some ideas, but I think you should post a thread on the main board asking for suggestions. If you're not comfortable with that, I can post one if you want. Just let me know.
Have you ever considered quitting your job and becoming a full time cake decorator? I think you should! Your cakes are amazing!!! :)
Thanks! As a single mom I haven't had the luxury because I had bills to pay. But....with my future status as a married woman (with a husband who pays the household bills), I'm hoping to be able to stay home and primarily do cakes and a little catering when I want to for a while. It'll be nice not having the pressure to pay all the bills!
would you like to make a trip up to michigan in August and make a cake??? ;)
I wish! Hey, Todd has family in Michigan. Maybe we can come visit! haha
great idea ;)
Laura - You need to come vist me in California. :)
Sounds like a plan! I've never been to California!
