quite a weekend!
I feel quite accomplished this weekend!
First, DH and I secured the venue in which we will be hosting baby's Christening and First Moon Birthday! A first moon birthday is a Chinese tradition in which the family celebrates the "survival" of it's first full moon cycle. It's now evolved into a debut or introduction of the baby to the rest of the family. We will be combining this celebration with his RC baptism so that both sides of the family can come together (all 90 heads of them-oy vey!). I'm so excited, it's like a mini wedding project :)
Second, we also secured our doula! We had known who our doula would be for almost a year now. She happens to be my sister's mother in law. During my IUI/IVF treatments, I was exploring all sorts of ways to improve my fertility and so I went to her for some massage therapy. Yes, she is both a massage therapist and during her sessions, I noticed she had so many pictures of babies on her wall. I learned at that time that she was a certified doula. It was like a sign that I would get pregnant! I held my excitement until a month ago when I finally asked her to be my doula. We just had our first appointment and discussed the logistics and signed the contract. She was a bit pricey at $950 but even DH was happy to pay that amount for her support and it is still cheaper than hiring a doula closer to NYC.
And finally, DH painted the baby's/guest room! It's a nice, light coffee color. Very neutral color but we're going to add greens and blues to the decor. I can't wait to dot it with globes and maps!
That's all for now. Just had to share my excitement that things are falling into place :)
