RSVP by email?

Me and my fiance are on a pretty tight budget and we know the majority of people who can and can't make it to the wedding. So we were thinking of just doing RSVP's to our email accounts, most people have a computer either at home or at work that they could take a minute or two to RSVP, right? My question to all of you is do you think that would be tacky? and do you think people would be more willing to RSVP to an email or in a self addressed RSVP card?

I think it's a great idea!  Actually, my friend just did this for his wedding and said it's worked like a charm and saved him a small fortune :)  Definitely not tacky at all!!

I dont think its tacky at all, Im allowing my guest to rsvp by email, text, phone call, postcard, etc. anyway that will get them to just let me know they're coming. My family is really bad at reserving.

I do not think it is tacky, but I did do the RSVO cards because I love getting snail mail and since it is free for them I saw no harm.

I got a few nice notes back with my RSVP card and those were added to my scrap book.

Thank you very much :) I love getting mail as well Idoagain20 but we thought we could save a good 400 hundred or more if we just did the emails, we invited over 400 people.

I agree, not tacky! Times are changing ;) That is something we could have cut out in order to save about that much money so definitely do it if you want!!

I am sorry I had not realized you had that many on your guest list! Then by all means stick to e-mail RSVP.

I only had 75 on my guest list and only those that I did not hand deliver had the RSVP cards.

I did e-mail RSVP and it worked out. I put an insert in the invite for people to RSVP on the PW wedsite or by my personal e-mail. Not tacky at all!

It's a great idea, but honestly, it depends on your individual guests. I provided SASE (self-addressed stamped envelopes) AND provided an e-mail option and I still had people who did not respond or responded very late after. Others were kind enough to reply by or before the deadline. At least with e-mail, if someone doesn't reply, you won't be out a stamp! : )
