RSVP date

(sorry, not sure if/where this has been asked before!)

I haven't yet ordered my invites yet so I'm wondering (while I have time to wonder, haha) of I should bump back the RSVP date. The wedding date is June 28th, and I initially put June 1st as the response date. I recently read you should use a response date of 2 weeks prior to the wedding-- that just seems a little last minute to me? I'm going to have the invites in the mail and sent before the end of this month. Isn't 4-5 weeks enough time to hang onto a response card & decide if you can come or not?

Thoughts please!

My venue needs the final guest count two weeks before the wedding date so if I used that date as my RSVP date, it wouldn't work. There will be stragglers that you need to track down to get an RSVP and you need a little time to do that. I gave a date of one month prior to the wedding so I think sticking with your June 1st date is better.

I'm doing one month. That gives me time to finalize the guest count, follow up if needed, and make any adjustments with vendors.

I based my RSVP date on the date the reception venue needed a final head count, then I went back a week in case there were stragglers.

It's about 5 weeks before the wedding, and I'm mailing out the invites about 2 months before.

We sent out our invites 3 months prior the wedding (2/2) then set the RSVP deadline for March 15th. We had some people RSVP first week of April.

So you might want to give yourself more leeway.

I think June 1st is perfect. It gives stragglers a week to get them in AFTER the deadline before you start making calls! And you can always send out a couple of extras after the deadline (as long as the RSVP closure has a LATER reply date)...once you know who on your "A" list has declined.

DITTO to have... I think 6/1 will work. Venue normally ask for a HC confirmation 2 weeks prior to the date.
