RSVP for a friend (and we're 3 days away) - vent!!

So, FI's friend "Jason" is invited and RSVP'd for just himself. Today Jason asks if he can add "Barbie". Turns out Barbie is a friend of "Ashley" and "Noah" who are coming and RSVP'd for 2. Barbie and Jason don't even know each other...Ashley wants Barbie to come because she thinks Barbie and Jason would hit it off and be a good match. WTF, no, my wedding isn't going to be a matchmaking dinner! Who even asks that type of stuff?? Needless to say, I told FI to tell Jason that the venue said no because the wedding is on Friday and it's too late to add people. Sorry, just shocked that people actually think something like thatwould be ok!

Good for you for sticking to your guns! I cna't believe people would even ask to add a guest 3 days before the wedding with someone they don't even know!! Geesh!

WTH!!! This isn't Blinddate! I have a couple weird ones too. My FI's friend RSVP'd for he and his wife... well they are now seperated and he said she wasn't coming. Now today (wedding is in 18 days) He wants to add his new gf to the guest list! Whatever I added her but how weird for this all to develop in a few weeks time!

I think a lot of people are clueless when they really do not relate to what it took to have room for each and every person.

Hahaha good for you lady. I had to tell someone they couldn't use my wedding as their high school reunion and bring a random random person with whom she attend high school and hasn't seen in "years" to a very small wedding... so she said she wasn't coming then, oh well!

Do what I would do.

Tell them they are welcomed to add who ever they want for the nominal fee of $100 (or more depending on what you're paying) which is what it would cost you to throw somebody in at this point.

You'd be shocked how great that works.  People all of the suden go "Oh, well, ah, yeah, so, ah" LOL   Then you lift your left eye brow up and say. "Right then"  It's their choice now not to bring them.. not yours.  LMFAO

It worked like a charm on all my cousins.

I have to disagree with Marina.  I know that a lot of people actually offer to pay for an extra guest if you tell them that you can't accomodate them due to budget restrictions.

Well I think what Marina was saying was...if you dont mind the person bringing someone, but just dont want to have to shell out the dough for it then giving them the option to pay for that person works out for both you and the person invited.  :o)
