❤ Santosha's Wedding Recap - Part 1 ❤
I know, I'm 2 weeks late! My sincerest apologies for not having the time to do this sooner my dearest PW ladies, but the hubster's family are still in town! At any rate, here's my recap! :)
Week Before the Wedding
HOLY MOLEY. Can you say hectic?!! So much for having the last week off to relax before the big day!! That didn't happen at all, especially with all of DH's OOT guests arriving from England the Wednesday before the wedding! I was certain I'd have enough time to finish up the last-minute DIYs revolving around the seating plan and placecards well before the first batch of OOTs arrived, but that didn't happen until 4:37 a.m. on Thursday morning.
And YES, by the time the wedding rehearsal arrived Friday evening, we were running on vapours! I even forgot to wear the cute little outfit I had bought specifically for the wedding rehearsal! BUT we chugged on like two little choo-choo trains and luckily for us, our bridal party came to our rescue!! We could not have survived that last week without all their help!
Tip for the Brides-to-be: Try to finish any last-minute DIYs/planning before the OOT guests start arriving! It's easy to get distracted in the awesomeness of being reunited with old friends and family - so much so that it's highly likely that you'll run out of time with any last-minute details! :)
The Wedding Day - Getting Ready!
To inject a bit of tradition into the start of the wedding day, I had spent the night before the wedding in a hotel with my BFF/MOH. There were no late-night shenanigans because I was exhausted from the week leading up to the wedding that I passed out at around 11pm, which is still considered "early" in my books! Nonetheless, it was so great to have spent some quality time with my MOH and have some quiet "me-time" before the big day!
We woke up, bright and early at 6:00 a.m. and of course, I took a moment to sit down in front of the large hotel window to inhale the goodness of what was to come! The sun was already peeking out from behind the skyline of highrise buildings to greet me and thankfully, I felt rejuvenated and ridiculously calm/content.
We left just in time to meet our hair and makeup "Dream Team" at 7:00 a.m. in our condo's community room, which worked out perfectly as DH and the boys would be getting ready in our condo just down the hall! Knowing that DH was in the same building really helped build up the excitement, while downplaying the nervousness! It also made it super-easy for our photographer to take pictures of both sides of the bridal party without having to drive to two different venues!
Because our hair and makeup "Dream Team" had been booked for other weddings, all of us were coiffed and prettied well before the ceremony! In fact, our hair and makeup were done by 1:00 p.m., which meant we had tonnes of time to change into our dresses before the ceremony, which was scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. This was one of the BEST moments of the day for me, being able to spend time with my four girls relaxing, joking and enjoying some light snacks before we headed off to the church!
Even though there were times when I was so anxious to get things rolling with the ceremony, having the extra time to just chill and take "Glamour Shots" with our amazing photographer was a blessing! It was SO much fun and by the time we were ready to roll out, everyone was ready and we made it to the church right on schedule!! Mind you, it helped that the church was only about 7 minutes away from our condo!
We arrived at the church and I can honestly say that that was the exact moment when the reality of what was to happen hit me smack-dab in the middle of the forehead!! Seeing old friends trickling into the church while we were waiting in the bridal SUV and seeing my parents waiting for me at the entrance was a serious "WHOA" moment for me, but a good type of "WHOA". ;)
I can't even express how MAGICAL it was to stand outside the church and to have our awesome DOCs sweep the doors open to start my walk down the aisle with both my parents at my side. Seeing all the familiar faces of our beloved family members and dearest friends made my heart soar and I couldn't help but walk down the aisle with what could easily have been the biggest smile on my face ever!! The closer I got to the aisle, the more I looked to find DH and when our eyes finally met, I felt like I had come home. My beloved sweetpea had tears streaming down his face and it wasn't until I saw him crying that I, too, started to get teary-eyed! It was such a BEAUTIFUL and UNFORGETTABLE moment.
Surprisingly, neither of us bawled during our exchange of vows (like we had during the wedding rehearsal the evening before!) - it was the perfect combination of feeling incredibly happy mixed with teary-eyed moments. Our first kiss as husband and wife was the BEST kiss ever and walking down the aisle as husband and wife was one of the BEST moments of our lives!!! There were a few miniscule hiccups during the ceremony (small details, like which side DH and I should have been standing and the timing of certain ceremony details), but we didn't care one bit! The immense happiness we felt completely overshadowed anything that wasn't completely "perfect" because in our eyes, it was PERFECT. :)
