Save The Date Question

I'll preface this by saying that I'm about to ask a pretty dumb question....

Our church and reception locations are in two different towns in New York. Which town name would I put on the Save the Date? I guess it really doesn't matter, but I was just wondering what protocol was on that.

I have the same issue- I went with ceremony location since that's the first place they will go (and since that's where you'll actually get married I figured it was more important).

HTH :)

Are they close? I'm in the same situation, but I'm just going to generalize it by only putting Rochester and putting our website on the STD for them to get more details. We have about a 20 minute drive between the church and reception hall.

Same here, I put the ceremony town as that is what everyone thinks of when they hear 'wedding'. IMO, at least!

Oh, man. I feel extra blessed now that my ceremony and reception are in the same building! Makes it easy!

Ha you really got me thinking. Our ceremony and reception are in two different states (MA and RI) and I couldn't remember what I did so I had to look back. I skipped that part and didn't put a location lol.

I would definitely do the ceremony location  and then in your invites give a more detailed insert.

On our Save the Date besides the pictures, our names and date, all we had was...Invitation to Follow...

On my save the dates I just put the town the entire event was taking place in. We have everything in 1 location- if you are it in one town just mention the town if the ceremony is in one place and the reception is at another, just put the town that the ceremony is being held at.

No need for addresses, that is what he formal invite is for.

I think Ceremony would make the most sense if you wanted to put a location but I like MelOliv916's idea too, just put invitation to follow.

I actually didn't put any location on my STD's. Just the date and our names. The rest was 'a formal invitation to follow'.

I would put the town where most people r likely to stay. People might be likely to looks for hotels ahead.

Last night FI says, "Why do we have do Save the Dates? Why can't we just send the invitation really early?" Hehe. He kind of has a point though. I'm thinking we can send out Christmas cards as STDs and kill two birds with one stone!

I didn't give all of that info on my save the date. I just said formal invitations to follow.

Just to be safe, can you nix the location on the STD?

I'm just thinking, some people might get ahead of themselves and book a hotel close to the ceremony location when they would rather be close to the reception location?
