Seamtress in Denver area

Hi ladies!!  I'm researching seamstresses in the area for when my dress comes in May.  Did any of you have a great experience with one in the Denver-Metro area??  I can get the alterations done at Amanda's Bridal and Tux (where I got my dress) but I know Bridal salons are usually more expensive.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)

This gal is really well known:

And was so booked up I couldn't get an appointment with her. . .I went with Judy at 'Alterations by Judy'.  She is SWEET as pie. . .and did a great job with a few minor things I would have done a smidge different - you have to be VERY clear although that is true of any alterations.  Her prices are great.

Thanks, Allie and Mountain!  I've been wondering about this, too.  I bought my dress online at netbride, and I had no idea who to take it to for alterations.

Lisa at Chiyo's Bridal will also do alterations on dresses not bought at her salon - she does a great job!

I had a great experience with Dee Dee from The Wedding Seamstress. She is located in Old Town Arvada near I-70 and Wadsworth.

How much did you guys spend on alterations and what all was done?  Trying to figure out how much to budget for.

I paid just over $200 for:

3 fittings

Seam adjustments to fit

Shorten the lining

An 11 point French Bustle (the bulk of the cost, it was like $10/point or something)

I was told my bustle will be approx $30 - I'm not sure what else I'll need to have done quite yet....

I just got my dress back - went to Elegant Alterations on S. University Blvd @ Arapahoe - $66 for a simple bustle and bra cups - had my dress back in exactly a week.  They were super professional....

@ Claire- I remember seeing that place when I was searching online, maybe I'll check it out.  You are lucky that is all you had to have done!

I have two consultations scheduled for Saturday with the Wedding Seamstress up in Arvada, and Hilda's Fine Tailoring which is really close to University and Arapahoe!

Just following up- I ended up going with the Wedding Seamstress and had my first fitting this Saturday.  She is a little more expensive, but she knows her stuff and was very accommodating.  I know another bride on here had a very bad experience with her, but she was very friendly to me. :(  I also tried to make an appointment with Alterations by Judy, but she couldn't seem to squeeze me in soon enough, and I had to make a decision quickly.  Because my dress has to be taken in 3 inches down the side seams, I went with the person I felt was the most knowledgeable and skilled.  She is even doing a front bustle so my dress doesn't drag when I change from my heels to my Chuck's for the reception. :)

Do you guys know if any of them can actually make a dress?  I have an idea for my reception dress, but I don't want to go through Milly, but rather an actual "local" seamstress.  Any recommendations?
