Seriously????

Sorry girls, this might be long and a bit of a vent, but I'm just confused and need to let it out somewhere.

I'll try to make it as understandable as possible!  So, my last AF was October 24.  I started charting with Fertilityfriend and it told me that I should ovulate around the first of November.  Fine.  First week of November came and went and my chart did not show ovulation.  Cool.  I didn't think that it would since it was so early after AF even though I thought I felt o pain.  I kept charting.

On November 17th (CD 25) I put my temp in my chart and the entire chart changed and told me that I had just ovulated the day before.  I was so excited as we had DTD'd a couple of times the days leading up to o'ing.  Even the night before, which I thought was going to be a good sign.

So, in the past few weeks I've been taking tests hoping to see a BFP's.  I even took one last night which would have been CD 48 or so (still no AF) and about 13 DPO.  Again, I got a BFN.  Frustrating.

This morning I go to put my temp in for today and it changes my ovulation date AGAIN.  Now it's telling me that I ovulated on November 29th, just 5 days ago!!  Of course, 5 days ago we were at my parents house for the weekend so we didn't DTD.  UGH!!!  How is it possible that Fertilityfriend detected ovulation in mid november (through my temps) and then changed?  I don't get it.   I mean,  a temperature change is concrete, no?  I'm so confused!!!

Sorry about the long vent.  Can anyone shed light on this for me?  TIA!

MizBiz, im so sorry about your frustration, i would be the same exact way.  Im sorry that i cant help you with FF though, i havent started tracking through them as im not a fan of navigating their site (we just dont get along)

But i would encourage you to keep a lot of stock in what your body is doing and telling you regardless of what FF might say, with that said- i know its also a great tool, and im sure someone on here will be able to help u understand these different results.

So sorry youre going through this

MizBiz...not to worry. Lady cycles can be crazy. What have your cycles been like before? How long have they been historically? If you have historically 28 day cycles then this 48 day cycle is either an anomaly or you are preggers. Here is how FF figures out your ovulation. If you have three days worth of temperatures above the coverline (say your temps are 96.8, 96.7, 96.9...and then the next three days they are 97.4, 97.8 and 97.6 this would give you an ovulation crosshairs). If you temps drop below the coverline the following day the crosshairs will go away. If you had high temps (above the coverline) for quite some days 10 days or 11 days and then you did report a drop (a drop occurs when your period is on its way) so if you reported a drop and then no AF, then the ovulation crosshairs go away and you keep tracking. If you temps go back up the crosshairs come back and the ovulation date is adjusted.

Sorry I am rambling. It really depends on what kind of a cycle you had. If you had a cycle and you did indeed O on day 25 you are only 13 days past O you might not have enough hormones to give you a BFP. Try again in three days if AF doesn't show. If you didnt O till later then it might not be your month but don't think that way yet. It aint over till the AF shows her ugly face :)

Can you post a link to your chart?  Then maybe we can look at it and see if we can see anything.  Ditto summer about why it changes though.  It has to have a certain number of days (usually 3) above your coverline (most of your pre-O temps are below the coverline).  If you drop below for a few days, then go back above for a few days, then it will adjust the crosshairs saying you O'd late.  13 DPO is still pretty early for a BFP in a lot of girls from what I understand.  Typically the luteal phase (after O) lasts 14-16 days, so if you get past 14-16 DPO, then theres a good chance that you are preggers (or your O date is wrong).  Its the part before O that varies so much and makes your cycle shorter or longer.

You said it perfectly SummerBride....."Lady cycles can be crazy"

Mine is seriously all over the place.  Sorry if it's TMI....but mine have been out of whack for about 8 months now.  I was on BC for 10 years and since last January or so, (while still on BC) my cycles totally changed.  Before the change they were spot on, like clockwork.  AF came every 25 days and lasted for about 3-4 days.  THEN the craziest year of my life started and AF totally changed.  It would start later (before it always started on Thursday of my sugar pills) and then it switched to Friday or Saturday of my sugar pills and lasted only 1 day with mostly spotting, not really flow.  I chalked it all up to stress since I was going through so much and planning a wedding.

Finally, after the craziness ended in August (after the wedding was over and everything else) I thought it would go back to normal.  Nope.  Still only 1 day, if that.  So I went to see my doc.  He did an ultrasound and told me everything was normal.  He said he's not worried about it (ummm...well, I AM!).  Soon after that DH and I decided to go off BC (the aforementioned October 24th) and I haven't had AF since then, which leads in to the previous post above.

Talk about confusing, eah?

Sure meany.....here's my chart.  Let me know if it doesn't work.  My temps seem to be all over the place even though I take them at the the exact same time every morning.  I'm thinking I need to start taking vaginally.

I dont have any advice about what FF is doing, Im sorry. This is my first month working with it too. As far as the cycles while still on BC, I noticed my period got lighter and shorter the longer I was on the pill (I was on them for about 10.5 years). I mentioned it to my doc last year and she said thats normal. I think that your body is still working itself out and it will even out in time. I would also suggest waiting a few more days to test. FF has me testing at 18dpo because they cant predict my luteal phase since this is my first month charting.

If you can post a link to your chart that would be helpful...the one above doesnt work.

hi Summer, i also have no advice about the site because I find it confusing and a bit hard to work with.  but, if you have just gone off the pill on october 24 i would guess your body is still regulating.  when i was on th epill i usd to get the 7 days period like i was supposed to on the sugar pills and over the years i just ended up getting it on the fridays instead of sunday and then it would go away in a couple of days.  now that i am off the pill m and have been for 6 months, my cylcle went from 28 days to 42 (so it seems).  so your body is probably just getting used to the idea of being off the bpill.

Okay girly...I just looked and this is what I think and take this with a grain of salt because honestly...what the hell do I know :). CD 36 there is a tell tale drop an then shift upward on CD 37. Your temps have remained above the coverline for the last 5 days.

Where as during CD 24 there was the drop then shift up, they were up and down, up and down. At true O they go up and stay up (mostly) up until the time of you either getting your period or they will stay up if you are preggo.

If I had to venture a guess I would day that you did indeed O on cycle day 36 :( but please don't take my word for it, that is just how I am reading your chart. Maybe someone else will chime in. Have you been keeping track of your CM? That is always a tell tale sign that you are getting ready to O.

I am pulling for you girlfriend!

After looking at your chart (and like summer said, take this with a grain of salt because this is my first month charting!) it looks like your body maybe geared up to ovulate on CD24, but for some reason it didnt. I think FF has it right, that you did ovulate on CD37.

I read on FF or TCOYF (I cant remember which) that sometimes your body might try to ovulate but stress, travel, sickness, etc., can stop it and it would be delayed. I think this is maybe what happened on this cycle. Can you think of anything that was out of the ordinary those days?

try charting your cervical mucus. i just bought, taking charge of your fertility. she suggest that the best indicator of approaching Ovulation , is your cervical mucus. when you see the egg white cervical mucus, you are the mos fertile and it its usually the day before ovulation.start the baby dance once you see White, milky cervical mucus.  you should chart your cervical mucus along with your temp. Hope you get your BFP!!
