Sex In America (kind of long)
Did anybody see the special (I forget what channel) called Sex In America? It was on Monday night.
It was basically a follow-up to Kinsey's studies on human sexuality back in the 50's. Indiana University did a research study (my friend was at Indiana and did some of their studies!) on human sexuality now. There hadn't been a study like this in THAT LONG, so times have obviously changed. Basically the findings are that people are definitely engaging in more of a variety of things now. Vs. back then couples primarily only doing missionary position (for example.) Now -what seems obvious- is that regular intercourse, oral, and anal are all very popular, and that more people are engaging in homosexual acts even if they don't identify as homosexual or bisexual.
It was pretty interesting. Human sexuality is a field I had always wanted to go in, so I was pretty fascinated by it.
One thing I was a little shocked by was that more guys have had "transactional" sex meaning payed for sex than I would have ever thought. I think it was 1 in 25 guys. And they were talking about cheating and how a lot of people have cheated on a partner. They did a study where they attached something to a mans penis that could gauge the arousal, and then had them watch different things, non-sexual, sexual, and they had to try to surpress their arousal. Some of them were able to. Then they gave them some alcohol and had them do it again. Almost every guy could not contain his arousal even if they tried. So they were talking about the science behind cheating-no it does not excuse, but it gives insight. It's sad actually. lol.
Another one was mastrubation-that is now so much more prevelant. And married people from the ages of 18-24 have the most sex. So I'm already out of the young age bracket?? What? lol. And it kind of tapers out each age group they go up. But, the older couples, although have less sex, have just as fulfilling sex lives. It's cool stuff.
Did anybody else see it? Or want to comment about it?
