Shower gift advice needed

I just found out that FI's family are going to be hosting a shower for me in June - not sure which of the women has taken the lead in planning it...but usually there is someone how hosts the shower, someone else who helps coordinate/plan the activities and then many pitch in for the food. Its usually a joint-effort. Who should I give a shower gift to?

It might depend on the number of people involved and what they're doing exactly. I think a small gift would be lovely, just to show your appreciation. It doesn't necessarily have to be expensive, as long as it's personal and heartfelt.

I'm glad you brought this up because I was wondering that too. My MOH Kristen (also on this board!) is throwing me a shower.

I did some research with my mad google skills, and found that a site that says it's not necessary to give hostess gifts, but you can if you want to - something like flowers, candy, or something along those lines that the hostess will like.

I'm thinking since you have so many wonderful friends hosting your party, maybe you can take a picture of everyone and give them a copy of that picture in a photo frame that says "best friends forever" or something to that extent. Then you can all look at the picture and remember what awesome friends you have. =)

You can ask your FI who specifically is planning the shower for you, that way the gift can be more personal. That's really nice of your FI's family to do this for you =).

Yeah, I didn't know you're supposed to give the planner a gift? I just thought it was the duty of the maid/matron of honor to plan and the bridesmaids help out? Hmmm, in that case, "Hey Margaret! I like..."

hehe, j/k! I don't want anything. =)

Yeah, I didn't know that you were supposed to give the host a gift either (until I saw it on the boards). I never received a gift for hosting a shower (I didn't expect one either) or gave a gift to my BMs for my shower (they got a gift from me for being in my wedding).
