SMY: Unity candle OR the method of unity you used in your ceremony!

I would love to see some pics of your unity candles!!! And if it was OR is a DIY project....some "how to's" would be nice too!

For anyone who used something other than the unity candle, please share! :-)

Thanks!!!

This was a diy photo 3311938-1This was a diy, you can see close ups of the candles and the holder on my bio. This was used outside and I was very unsure of doing the candle in case the wind blew it out but it was such a beautiful day out that day, the candle was still burning 4 hrs later!

Because we are wine drinkers, we did a wine unity ceremony, mixing red and white together to create a blush. :)

I love the wine idea as well! We won't even have a table at our ceremony or else we would do that!

This is my DIY unity candle:

This is my DIY photo 3312025-1This is my DIY photo 3312025-2

I printed our monogram and wedding date on vellum and wrapped it around the candle.  Then I wrapped some ribbon around the top and bottom of the vellum (so you wouldn't be able to see the edges) and added the rhinestones.

Instead of the sand ceremony, we are going to do the Hand Ceremony...I love the words...

Right before the pastor says..you may now kiss the Bride...

Hands Ceremony

Bride's Name and Groom's Name, please face each other and take each other’s hands, so that you may see the gift that they are to you.

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work along side yours as together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief temporarily comes your way.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.

These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams.

These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times.

These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.

These are the hands that will lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into eyes that are filled with overwhelming love for you.

And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

I'll have to upload a pic later, but my colors are a little WILD to say the least! I bought a Zebra Print Pillar candle from Hobby Lobby, that I will be wrapping in a 1" Hot Pink Ribbon, a 3/4" Turquoise Ribbon, & a 1/2" Lime Green Ribbon that I will put a Rhinestone Buckle on with our Monogram in it. I will have 4 taper candles instead of 2. FI's mother will light one (his father is deceased), my mother, father, & step-mother will light one each. Then during the lighting of the Unity Candle my children will help us light it using the candles that my step-,other and father lit. I thought this was a way to include my father and step-mother in the wedding ceremony!
