SMY: Wedding Food

Tell us all about your wedding food. Make us hungry!

If you want, go ahead and throw in how much everything cost, too. Sometimes it helps with planning when you see what other people are paying for their wedding expenses.

I was a budget bride with a rustic/camp wedding. We went pretty casual with our menu (and it was very popular). Everything was buffet style. We had some salads, cheese & crackers, and fruit & veggie platters set up for everyone to start on while we did our pictures before the reception officially started.

Our dinner buffet was from a popular bbq restaurant in the area. We had bbq chicken, pulled pork, and mutton. Sides were green beans with new potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and fried apples. We also had rolls and cornbread muffins. We had a separate food table set up for the kids, with chicken strips and more mac & cheese.

Our wedding was at a church camp, and alcohol was not allowed. We served lemonade, iced tea, and bottled water.

For dessert we had a table with lots of different kinds of cake.

My family DIY'd everything except the dinner buffet, so I don't have prices for everything. But the actual dinner buffet part was a great deal at around $1000 for 100 people. That did not include servers or dishes or anything. We had some family friends who took care of getting the food all set up for us.

um, YUM! Everyone, including the photographer was busy eating, lol :) Our guests had the choice of Green Chile Chicken Alfredo, lasagna, or veggie lasagna. There was also a spinach salad with hot bacon dressing, tea or water to drink. We had a cash bar, and cupcake for the wedding cake. Since I am allergic to fresh veggies, they made me some AMAZING tortilla soup (please please PLEASE post someone as a guard to ensure the bride gets to eat.  I think I had two bites of our amazing meal.)
