So Cal Girls and Cake

Who are you using for your cake? We still have not booked this vendor. Been to two cake tastings:

1. Helena Wirth = yuck, unprofessional and overpriced

2. Susina= yummy, delicious, loved it but can't be delivered until an hour before cake cutting and our cake sits next to our sweetheart table in the middle of a bay window and it would be too distracting to have it delivered last minute

So, who have you liked? Who did you choose? What has been your experience?

Thanks for all the suggestions girls. My mouth is watering after looking at all these sites and reading all the flavors. I noticed that Rossmoor has some really negative review though. They are very recent too.

I LOVED Jacqui's Cakes in North Hollywood.  She has the best yellow cake with fresh strawberries and the tastiest whipped cream.  It's not super dairy-ish and not super sweet, it's light and perfect!  Also her marble cake with fudge filling is TASTY.

Our venue was in South Bay and our venue included a cake so we went with Torrance.  I didn't love the service and was surprised based on all the reviews.  I posted my own review here in PW.  The cake design itself was great.  It was exactly the way I imagined.  I didn't really get to eat much of the cake but the service leading up the wedding sucked and just for that I won't recommend them.

Yeah, I saw those reviews (edit: for Rossmoor) too.  I was very surprised at first, and then I read them again and kinda wondered about them because all of the one star reviews are from people who only have one review, and the wording on them kinda sounds the same.  I figure I'll just see for myself when we have the appt...?

we tried rossmoor, rockwell's and great dane.  rossmoor was the most expensive and had the least delicious cake in our opinions!  after reading all the glowing reviews we were really disappointed!  great dane seemed to be the most economical for us and was really tasty too.  different strokes for different folks. :)  good luck!

I got our cake from Jaqki's Cake Creations in NoHo (kristeen & MrsGG both mentioned her).  The cake was the best I tried and the most inexpensive.  Our cake consisted of marble cake with fudge & vanilla custard for the bottom layer, middle layer was white cake with lemon filling, and the top layer was chocolate cake with raspberry filling.  I highly recommend her.  Check out my review for more info.  Have fun tasting! :)

I'm so not a sweets person, but I loved Rossmoor! Sorry you had a bad experience!! I don't remember what actually cake layer we got, but I know it was with dulce de leche filling. Good frosting too!! I'd rather just have frosting and filling.

On a semi related note, I had the BEST cupcakes of all time this past weekend at a shower. They were from Bristol Farms. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
