So what have you been up to??

Even though the wedding planning may be over, I think we all know the life plans didn't end! What are you and your DH working on or looking forward to these days?

For us, after the wedding we decided to sell our condo and buy a larger, single-family home. We finally sold it in a great deal, but the catch was that we have to move out in less than a month! Settlement is the 17th, and we're moving out this Saturday... and we have no home! There's nothing out there that we like very much, so we're putting everything into storage and... sigh... moving in with my parents.

Don't get me wrong, they're awesome people and we love them. And we definitely appreciate that they're letting us stay for as long as we need, rent free. But it's going to be tough going from our privacy and freedom to being back home with the 'rents. I anticipate that this summer will be spent doing some serious house hunting!

So what about you girls? What's going on in your lives?

Sorry about the upheavel with your home.  Hopefully time will fly for you while you two are living at your parents home.

I'm scheduled for foot surgery next Wednesday and will be on disability leave anywhere from 6 to 10-1/2 weeks to recover.  This ought to be an interesting time with my husband, as I have to be non weight-bearing for an entire month!

I've been doing some advance cooking and freezing of meals so it will be easier for me and my husband since he's not all that great in the kitchen.

Hopefully, after the 4-week period of time after I'm able to put some weight on the foot, we'll be able to get away for a small little trip before I have to return to work.

Oh wow! Good luck with the surgery! I hope you heal quickly. Where are you thinking of vacationing?

We were thinking of going to Pagosa Springs, CO.  We live in Albuquerque, NM, and we spent our honeymoon in Pagosa Springs and try to get back there every year on our anniversary.  We missed being able to go last year.  It is so beautiful (and quiet) there.  There are some cabins literally next to the Animas River.  We love to ride around and visit Durango, Ouray and Silverton too.

@FCTF: Good luck with the house hunting! I hope you guys find something very quickly! :-)

@melsmith: Good luck with your surgery. That sounds so painful! I love that you are thinking ahead with the meals. I bet your DH will be a good nurse, though ;-)

My one year anni is coming up in a couple weeks, and I can't believe it! It has been a whirlwind year for us.

We got married on May 28 in Texas and moved to South Carolina a few days later for DH's job (he is in the military). We spent the summer together fixing up our little house on base and hanging out with new friends. DH got deployed in September after less than four months of marriage :-(  We spent our first married holidays apart and he was gone for 7.5 months total. I also had to move us to a new house while he was gone and that was NO fun! Haha. Overall, the deployment was really hard, but somehow it seemed like we grew even closer emotionally despite the distance. Anyway, I welcomed him home a couple weeks ago and it has been wonderful!!

We have a very full rest of the year, which is awesome because it feels like our lives were on hold for most of the last year. We are going on a weekend getaway to Asheville, NC for our anniversary in a couple weeks. DH is training for a triathlon and we have family coming to visit this summer. Then we are going on our offiical honeymoon (finally!) in August. St. Lucia!!! We are moving into yet *another* house in the fall and then my MOH is getting married shortly after. Fun, fun, fun times!

I have to say I think I would rather be planning our wedding again than having to go through what we have since right after our wedding.  Three months after our wedding, we started house hunting and found our home in March.  We moved into it in August, then the craziness began.  We had a hurricane, DH lost his job, and then we had a freak snow storm in October.  We were hoping to have gone on our delayed HM for our 1-year anniversary, but life had other plans.  DH has found a better job, but now I'm looking for more work (my job is an IC so if I am not transcribing, I don't make money), but it is starting to look up a little bit.

Even though things have been very draining both financially and most definitely emotionally over the year-and-a-half since our wedding, I really don't think I would change too much.  These difficulties have most definitely brought DH and I closer together.

@fctf: How is the house hunting going? I hope you find something soon!

@mel: I hope the surgery went well and that you're recovering fast and good!

@msdl: that's a tough 1st year, beeing apart for such a long time! And I bet you can't wait for your honeymoon! St Lucia is fabulous!

@becca: I'm so sorry to hear you had such a hard time since the wedding! I hope you find more work and also that DH is happy with his new job. Also I hope you can go on your honeymoon-weekend for your 2nd anniversary!

We got married in August 2010 and since then a lot happened too. After the wedding we went on our honeymoon in November to Dubai and the Maldives, it was wonderful, we had such a great time! More or less at the same time we decided that i get of BC and started TTC. We were so blessed and lucky and after only a couple of months I was pregnant. My due-date was beginning of November 2011, but LO decided to point his nose a bit earlier... Fabrice was born 6 weeks earlier! On Sept. 17, 2011. First I was in shock and so scared, but he did so well and after 3 weeks at the hospital, we brought him home finally beginning of October. As you can imagine since the day of birth our lives have completely changed, but he gives us so much and I feel also, that it has brought us closer together. After 6 months of maternity leave I went back to work beginning of March for part time.
Other than that, we try to find a house too. We are renting, and we really like to buy something soon, but it's difficult to find something good that is affordable..

Well, I hope you're all doing well! Wishing you a great week! (love this group:-))

I hear ya, Lauren.

We're living with my parents right now and it's not exactly ideal, but it is a HUGE blessing.

We were renting an apartment up until this past March because we weren't sure where DH's career would take us yet.

And in January we were surprised to find out we were expecting and due in September (we definitely weren't trying but we're super excited).  We found out it's a girl and we're naming her Olivia Annalee. :)

My parents so graciously let us live in their little upstairs apartment to save a bit for our little one.  Once she is born, it will be even better to have a set of grandparents with us all the time to give us a break when we need sleep! Yay!

DH graduates in May with his B.S. degree, and there's a greater chance we will be staying in the area, so we are going to try to buy a house next summer!  Since I'm a teacher, we don't have to pay a down payment and rates are so low right now that we could surely find a steal!  Our mortgage could end up being several hundred dollars cheaper per month for a 3 br 3 ba house than our 1 br 1 ba apartment rent.  Real estate prices are so low right now!  Fingers crossed it all works out!

This summer I'm currently taking it easy, planning baby showers for LO along with my mom, MIL, and SIL, and staying busy with lots of fun DIY projects.  Year 2 of marriage is turning out to be way more hectic and scary than Year 1 but still just as exciting and wonderful.

@Legentry - First of all, IT's AWESOME seeing you on the boards!!!! Sounds like life is going great for you right now, and yes living at home with your parents when Olivia comes actually sounds perfect! I love the name Olivia Annalee btw!

DH and I have been trying to work on relaxing this summer. We got a summer rental at the shore right near where FIL keep his fishing boat and DH has been taking full advantage of both so far. I'm working on my masters degree and a tan right now, so no complaints out of me either :) But hopefully this fall I can finally get DH to put in our hardwood floors that have been sitting in a box in our living room now for several months (we're just 'making' sure they are fully acclimated to the environment, HA)
