Someone tell me...

... It's ok!

im so depressed lately worrying about the cost of things adding up for the wedding! We're already over budget I'm sure and there are still important things like flowers and Dj, though a friend offered to Dj. So that's good but I worry if it will be good enough. Oh and I still need invites and FI and his family keep insisting I remove kids to cut costs. But I don't think it will cost too much. But they seem insistent. I don't know what to do anymore. Help!!

aww man Kittywolf13! sorry to hear you are depressed...but it will be OK! You are getting married to the man of your dreams and It will work itself out! What you absolutely want, don't skimp on. what you can do w/o, give it a 2nd look. I always say at the end of the day, its you and FI in the marriage. All that other chatter will be just that. Music I think is a big thing...gotta make sure ppl are on their feet etc. I would suggest you ask him for a mix or something. When was the last time the DJ played for a wedding? Flowers-- you can probably cut cost. Your bouquet, get what you want. any other flowesr, skimp on. get what's in season etc. centerpieces don't have to be elaborate or flowers at all. maybe floating candles and some fruit(lemons, limes, oranges--not sure of your color scheme. Hope that helps!

Oh no!  It's OK to get all bummed out going through this stuff every once in a while.  It's just NOT OK to stay that way--and trust me, you won't!  I know thinking of the consequences can be wrenching when the $$$ gets spent (i.e., "How am I going to afford X in X months?"), but then, amazingly, after a while it will bother you a little less and you'll get your stuff together and learn to cut in other areas where you have room.

Just let yourself feel not OK for a while, and then you'll eventually realize that you're OK again, like this: :D

on your bouquet you can save money by getting a few bunches of flowers at costco or sams club or you can go online and order specfic flowers or they have wedding packages. Or if your not overly attached to a certain flower you can go to the grocery store and pick up bouquets there,  if you can't afford the Dj select your music and put it on an ipod and have your friend make announcements, first dance etc........

invites you can DIY these easily you can get a michaels coupon or just plain cardstock make some sort of design even its a simple monogram with a border tie a ribbon around it. Did you ever have the talk with the FMIL? Are you still getting a limo? I would forgo that to make sure you had the other things.

Sometimes we don't get what we want and after finding how quickly everything can add up you have to make sacerfices. You can still have a beautiful wedding maybe you just need to be more creative. And if you need help in that department you are in the right place.

how much over budget are you? is it hundreds or thousands??

maybe you need to take a day or two off from planning........relax and then come back to it.

I did talk with my FMIL and they are taking care of the drinks and limos. They insisted on a limo because FI's father is disabled so it just made sense to them. They had to rent a car for it either way so they are springing a little more to rent the limo. My friend who dj's has done weddings before (not sure how many) but usually dj's parties and club gigs. So he has pro equipment and such. I just worry a little cause we have a wife variety of family from different age brackets so pure club music would not work for example. :P I am not particular about flowers and am looking at non floral arrangements as well as fake flowers. Not silk but either paper or latter/real touch. My main concern right now is invites as I have to get that squared away soon because they need to go out soon.

I just... I dunno. Am struggling. I love my FI very much and we mesh well enough and I know he'd be a good father etc. just feel like sometimes I don't have any emotions anymore. Not happy. Not sad just depressed. I scheduled a dress fitting for next month am trying to schedule an engagement shoot and my photographers communication is lacking and that is beginning to frighten me even though she has good reviews. I'm just like I dunno. So detached from everything now. It sucks.

Make a play list of music for the DJ with all different kinds of music that you think the crowd will enjoy. you dont just have to have club music. oldies, coutry r and b, mix it up.

you can make a bouquet from paper. or cloth or buttons or broches.....or candy or ribbons..........so many options

have you checked out offbeatbride? they have a ton of unique bouquets on there.

thats a pretty bouquet. I'm waiting for a boutinere from an etsy artist, who makes paper flowers... the pics look really pretty and the prices are awesome, so i ordered a bout to see the qaulity in person. it should be here any day now. We interviewed a DJ tonight and we really liked him. my friend is charging us 400, this guy quoted us 650 for 4 hours, or 700 for 5... which i dont think is bad, and since hes a top rated DJ im kind of considering seeing if i can afford it. I also did a mock up for the invites today. just because its on my mind!

Everytime i take a day off from planning i feel guilty and get anxious that im wasting time! >_<;

BUT FI surprised me today to tell me he booked two limos today. all by himself! im so happy he took charge like he said he would! (is it weird that he picked black limos? i told him they should be typically white, but then thought pics would be better against a black limo then white?? black doesnt bring to mind funeral does it?)

Limo color doesn't matter, luckily! Also, I know about anxiety, and trust me... it will all be okay!! One of my friends did something amazing for me on our wedding day that really helped with the stress of organization: she offered to be my lady in waiting. She knew all the answers to questions people might want to ask me (where do we go, where do we line up, blah blah blah) and she took my phone while I was getting my hair done. She was a lifsaver! It really took the stress off the day of and let me enjoy my day.

as for feeling guilty, it is really hard to address those feelings! Just remember that these details are important and special- and you are getting married!! If something isn't exactly as planned, #1. most people won't realize it and #2. you are still married at the end of the day. :)

just remember: Hakuna Matata!

Thank you aggiebride! I appreciate that. I do plan on appointing one of my ladies to take care of questions and such. I have a few who would be willing to do so. :) I really do want to live in the moment that day.
