Sort of Wedding Related! Help! Please! XD

So ladies! I'm here to ask help with a couple of things! First off, I'm excited to say that in a few weeks we have decided to join one of my best friends on their happy occasion and destination wedding! normally this isnt a big deal but its a huge deal for me for several reasons!

A.) They are a same sex couple and are getting legally married in DC, and i am so happy for them and thrilled that we will be able to witness this happy event and support them!

B.) I have only left florida twice in my entire life and have never flown in a plane! so this is a total new experience for me! I am nervous about this and my husband has a fear of flying so its actually been a tense night and it was kind of a spontantious choice. but im super excited! advice to make this a smooth transition for getting on our flight with the least amount of stress is appropriate.

C.) I've never seen snow before but theres a good chance that i might see it so it means it might be colder then i ever experienced... so i want you ladies to give me suggestions for what to wear!? i mean i have dresses but dont know if it will pack well (wont wrinkle like crazy) and then i dont know what will keep me warm without looking ridiclously like a spare tire. I wear a size 18w or 20/22. So show me suggestions! examples!

Then, i think my now husband and I have decided to go on a cruise (most likely 5 day cruise) for our honeymoon. My husband is a little nervous about possibly stopping in certain places that have had questionable problems in the past years with violence and such like mexico and other places. I'm fairly certain that the ports the cruise ships hit up are all strictly touristy and mostly US based and safe? My friend agrees with that and reassures me that they are. Also we worry about getting sea sick... even though i spent most of my childhood fishing and out at sea, ive never been on a big boat out more then 10 miles or so.

Advice please? Show me what you girls are good at and give me ideas, insperations and advice!

Alrighty!! So, let's start with what to wear in the cold. I don't have photos, but a wool peacoat/dress coat (longer than a peacoat) over a dress with some fleece leggings and cute boots (with an option cute sweater) are my go to for cold weather dressing up.

I have friends who use Dramamine (for motion sickness, causes drowsiness) to deal with flight anxiety. You might talk to a doc about the best course of action if YOU get nervous, too! :)

As for the port calls: as long as you are smart (don't flash a lot of cash or walk around wasted....) you should be fine. stick to group outings, and not going off the beaten touristy path. Mexico is beautiful and quite fun as long as you aren't being senseless.

And reiterating the dramamine for motion sickness. I've been on a few cruises and the boat equalizer has made it so I don't generally get seasick.... but pack it just in case.

Have FUN!!! Sounds like amazing things going down!

i like alot of what was already said.  for the cold weather please make sure that whatever shoes you wear have good traction.  the cute knee high boots with high heels are not a good option.  think flat or wedge.  dont get in a hurry when you are walking.  if the ground looks like it is wet, it could have ice on it, so be very careful.  trust me...i lived in kansas city for 5 years and fell on black ice and broke 5 bones in my foot right before christmas one year.  you dont want to fly to dc only to spend it in the hospital.  as far as coats...here is the kind of thing that would be good...http://www.roamans.com/clothing/Inverted-Pleat-Coat.aspx?PfId=410493&DeptId=26516&ProductTypeId=1&ppos=7&Splt=1&StyleNo=0012#.UwFeE_3FvFI

when i flew for the first time a couple could tell i was really nervous.  when it was about time for the plane to take off the couple started talking with me.  they got my mind totally off the takeoff, and when i looked out the window we were already in the air.  do something to get your mind off the takeoff and it will really help.  flights can be hot, so wear layers.  if you are hot take off the cardigan.  if you are cold you have the cardigan to help.  if you get hot and have a problem with motion sickness, then you WILL get sick.  done that too.  i am a nervous flier and have motion sickness, so i dont eat much before a flight.  only like a granola bar.  and i have ginerale or pepsi on the flight cause that helps with nausea.  i have been to florida a few times and dont really remember there being mountains.  have you ever traveled anywhere by car where you were going up into the mountains and your ears had to equalize to the altitude?  if not, then i have another sugguestion.  buy saline nasal spray and use it 30 min before any flight.  it will help your ears to equalize better.  also maybe have some gum with you so that if you feel your ears are having trouble you can just chew some gum.  you may think this is crazy, but trust me it is a good idea.

as far as traveling with your cruise, i have found a really great youtube channel from this guy who is a college professor and has taught in like 6 or 7 countries and traveled all over the world. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFr3sz2t3bDp6Cux08B93KQ  they have videos on tons of different countries along with some great travel tips for packing and not being a target for theives.

i hope all your travels are safe and that you have a  lot of fun.
