South Beach Diet

Hi girls!

I'm planning on starting the South Beach Diet as soon as possible. I was wondering if anyone else has or is currently on that plan?

I'm a carb junkie and recently I've gained a lot of weight in my stomach which is driving me CRAZY.

i'm not doing south beach, but i am currently doing a 21 day cleanse that is somewhat similar in that it eliminates most refined sugars and carbs (brown rice and some fruits are allowed). i'm a carb junkie as well, and this actually hasn't been as hard as i thought it would be! i'm on day 11 right now and have lost about 2lbs and an inch or so around my belly area so far.

my suggestion, if possible, is to get your FI/DH to do it with you. it's so much easier that DH and i are on the same eating plan because we're keeping each other on track and there's nothing in our kitchen right now that isn't allowed.

I really need to break my carb addiction. :( Glad to know it's not as hard as you imagined!

I highly doubt my FI is going to want to do it with me, lol, but I will ask him. One of my coworkers is doing it with me, so at least I will have a motivator throughout the work day!

I've had a lot of success with SB. It's tough at first, but when the pounds start falling off, the motivation is there!

Hi Chrissy! I have been on it before and started again right after Christmas, literally the day after.
I have been on it now for a little over a month and the results are great. The first 2 weeks are the hardest. Like you, I am a carb addict. But I can now go without or substitute my cravings for other things like fresh almonds, carrot sticks, tons and tons of caffeine free tea, water, water and more water. I am sure that in the first week I lost about 5-6 lbs. I have more energy and my resistance is better. I work out about 4x's a week, no more than 30 minutes. that's all I can afford with studying and it's cardio and then I'll switch to weights.
I am constantly buying fresh veggies, leaner meats and seafood so it's a bit expensive and the snacks that I get are low fat, no-fat or all fresh healthy items. My carb craving has gone down but I still have whole wheat items in the house, I just don't eat them as often. On the weekends, I usually reward myself with something. Tonight I had chocolate chip cookies but I am studying...so tonight I will drink 2 cups of water and tomorrow, stick to water and no cookies. It gets you on a routine that is very good and I love cooking fresher food and motivating myself to workout and cook fresh meals, I even got FI doing it.

I plan to stay on the meal adjustment throughout the wedding and after as well. I have probably lost another 3-4 lbs as my bra's no longer fit well at all and my jeans hang off of me, below my waist.

good luck and congrats on getting started! That's the first and hardest step!
