Started working on my wedding map

Thanks HMM for the help - this is my first try posting a pic. I have been playing around in Word trying to make my wedding map I will include in the invites. Any opinons would be appreciated, thanks. I have a version with our names, our weddingmapper site, and a "key".

WOW! Nice job, an awesome DIY project! I'm trying to make mine on weddingmapper too- but not sure if it will be good enough to put in the invites? Mine does NOT look like yours! How is yours just a simple black & white map? Mines really busy looking...

I think for sure I will put it on our wedding website though!

Let us know when you actually print them, maybe I'll try out if its easy :)

Looks good!

Looks great. I have thought about doing this too. whats the best bet? I'll have to look into wedding mapper. We are having everything in the same location but it's at a state historic site and not exactly on a main road so I'd love to include a picture map of some sort!

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it. It's pretty simple to make, there are directions on weddingmapper.com for after you create your map to make a line-drawing one. I copied and pasted the view that I liked then drew over the roads I wanted to include with the "insert - autoshapes" function in PPT (can also do in MS Word) and inserted black lines over the roads.
Then you add your road names and anything else, last step is to delete the original picture of the map you first pasted and you're left with what I posted above.
You don't have to use wedding mapper - you can use google maps or mapquest then zoom into the view you like, if you click the print link it will take you to a view of the map that you can right click on and copy it.

Way cool, your map looks great. Since the little wedding cake icon is in color, will you be printing in color? If so, I'd recommend making the highways a different color than the streets, that way they stand out a bit.

For those of you who are looking to do your own map, you can also use Adobe Illustrator and trace over a Google Map with the pen tool and then add text that follows the roads. That's what I did, PIB.

That's awesome that WeddingMapper has instructions to DIY your own map.
