stupid chiavari chairs

So I completely fell in love with having chiavari chairs and it has been a huge rollercoaster since I decided I wanted them. First I couldn't find them anywhere, then I did at a good price then they couldn't deliver them, I re-found them same price locally, then we weren't allowed to put them outside, then I stumbled upon an ad for them even cheaper and I cannot use them either because our ceremony is outside on the lawn and they will sink into the grass so we can't use them. I want to know if they are so terrible on the grass why are there so many pictures of beautiful ceremonies with chiavari chairs on the lawn? and why in the heck am I so obsessed with these dang chairs???? so anyway, we are going to use white wooden folding chairs and then the typical banquet chair at the reception. oh well. but stupid chiavari chairs I wish I never knew you existed!

Oh honey, I totally understand! There is something about wedding planning that leads us to obsess over a particular detail and Not. Let. It. Go.

I have no doubt that your wedding will be stunning no matter the chairs. And for what it's worth, I've seen a ton of weddings with the white wooden folding chairs, and I love them! I think it looks fresh and clean and exactly what an outdoor ceremony should look like. Had we been able to pull off ours (stupid rain), white wooden folding would have been there.

fromcoldtofire....seriously what is it about planning our wedding that makes me OBSESS over the silliest details? I never thought I would at all. I'm no bridezilla or anything but like you said I get something in my head and canNOT. Let. It. Go.!!! ahaha. but yes I am making peace with the white folding chairs. Now I need to make peace with the banquet chairs, I just feel like they are so cookie-cutter so I'm thinking of tying the sash in a different way or something.

The wedding planning process in general is about obsessing over the smallest detail.  It brings out the good and bad of it all.

I have had the same thing with plate chargers.  I've wanted them from the get go, but have gone back and forth with the price issue, so I can completely relate to your frustration.   I know I'm giving in and in the plunge for the money, which is my only worry, I'm going to attempt to sell them when our wedding is over.

Could you hook up some sort of aparatus that could be attached to the chair legs that would keep them from sinking in the ground? I'm not trying to make your decision more difficult, but to hopefully make it possible.  Some sort of thing, like those chair bottom covers to protect floors from getting scratched?  They could be painted to blend in with colour of chair?

Totally agreed everyone! We find 1 thing and obsess until we get it! I too, wanted chivaris and wouldn't give in.

It's frustrating that they won't allow them to be used outdoors. They do make plastic chivari's, do they not have the plastic ones in stock? I assume it's because the wood would potentially get ruined.

Well, Ghost chairs are also in!

I have found them for about $5 a chair, that's about $500 with our guest count of 100 for the reception.

I wish they would have just let me get the stinkin chairs and let them sink if they were going to! That's terrible I know but I get mad/green-eyed when I see chiavari's. But I am learning to like the white wooden folding chairs.

Just wanted to let you know that I also said "Stupid chiavari chairs!" while planning. LOL :) I wanted them too but our venue didn't have them and there was no way we could afford to rent them. So I had to let that go. BUT I obsessed over having red chargers and that was one thing I didn't let go. I got my red chargers and they were beautiful.

Just wanted you to know you're not alone and that this detail obsessing is totally normal. :)

So I was just sharing your frustration with my DH because he totally remembers my obsession with chiavari chairs. And he said "Why doesn't she just get the protectors on the bottom?" What?? Yeah! It turns out they make chiavari SHOES specifically for outdoor events so that the chairs don't sink in the ground. I did a quick Google search and found this: http://www.drakecorp.com/s_catalogsPDF/eChiavariShoes.pdf

I bet there are other places to get shoes like this! Hope this helps you. =)

Those shoes were exactly what I was trying to explain.  There is an actual product!  That is awesome.  I was just trying to rig something up in my head.

Just so any of you brides that are planning an outdoor wedding, I want you to think of this,,,, if it rains within a few days of your wedding, be careful if your planning on you or your girls or even guests wearing heels, you could also "sink" in the ground like the chairs! not a pretty sight! lol
