Stupid Drama (vent)

So my dad and his 2nd wife went through a pretty nasty divorce about 8 yrs ago. I am still very close to her and I talk to both of them regularly.  I was always dragged into the middle of their divorce even though I told them the whole time that I understood both of their sides of the 'story' and that in my opinion they were both being stupid and that neither one of them was right or wrong and they should just end the marriage and move on with their lives.  Well after a bunch of he said/she said BS and matching restraining orders - they finally did move on. Until now.  Well dad removed his restraining order against her a while back and now petitioned to have the one against him removed.  She said she didn't have a problem with that and signed the papers and sent them back to the court.  Well this morning dad calls me and tells me that the restraining order is gone, but that she called the judge before the hearing to express concern about the restraining order not being in place during my wedding next June.  WTF. So now my day is already in the middle of their BS - I feel like telling both of them that they are just going to have to stay away from each other and mind their P's and Q's otherwise neither of them will be invited!!!

Aww, that sucks! I am sorry you are in the middle of this all! I think that it is too bad that they felt the need for restraining orders... but that is a different topic I suppose. I think you are totally right though, you should call your ex-stepmom and tell her that you want your dad (and her) at the wedding and that if she is going to try and prevent that from happening that she won't be invited. I don't see why you wouldn't have you dad there if it is her who is complaining to the judge about the order.... I mean, if she is physically afaid of him then I don't see why she would want to come in the first place.... maybe assign a relative to "babysit" each of them during the wedding. Sorry you have to deal with all this crap.

It is stupid and selfish.  The whole restraining order thing was stupid too because it was all just for show and just to get under each others skin.  I just hope that for one frickin' day everyone can just keep their damn mouths shut!

My parents story isn't that bad but they really can't get along to save a life. I think if you spilled the beans to both of them and told them exactly what you feel and tell them if they act up, they're gone, period...end of convo that might get them to understand that their childish behavior has no place at your wedding. My Dad doesn't listen or get it unless your mean to him...sounds like you have to pull out the big guns to let them know you're serious and they need to respect your wishes and be civil for 1 day! Good luck!
