Stupid Question Thread

We used to have one of these threads in the main forum for wedding planning, so I thought I would add one here -- just in case anyone in our group has any questions they might otherwise be afraid/hesitant/embarrassed to ask. No question is too small or "stupid" since most of us are new at all this :-)

I have a couple questions to start it off!

1) An acquaintance gave me a bag of maternity clothes (gently used) when we first announced our pregnancy. Do you return maternity clothes to the person who gave them to you? I assumed they were on loan, but for some reason now I'm not sure if I am supposed to return them.

2) What are your thoughts on crib bumpers? Everything I read says they are not recommended for safety reasons, but every time I see a photo of a real life nursery -- friends, FB, product reviews, etc. -- they all have bumpers in their cribs. What do you guys think?

Only DH was with me the u/s where we found out we were having a girl and we called and told everyone. We did do a 3d u/s and invited his parents to come. DH & my mom where in the room with me during delivery. No way would I let anyone else in!

You are going to be nursing like every hour so bothering with an actual bra would probably be really annoying. For my hospital birth I wore the hospital gown and then a nursing nightgown while in the hospital and I didn't care that visitors saw me without a bra (and honestly most of them saw my boobs hanging out while I was nursing) and for my birth center birth I gave birth in just a nursing sleep bra (sort of like a sports bra) so after he was born I just put on a tank top and that's what I wore until we left (but we left like 12 hours after he was born so we weren't there long at all and the only visitor was my mom and sister and daughter). When you give birth all your modesty goes out of the window because you have everyone looking at you naked and sticking fingers down there so you will probably not care. I would bring a sleep bra and a nursing tank for easy access and coverage.

And milk usually comes in somewhere between day 2 and 5 but takes about 6-8 weeks to regulate so I wouldn't buy any nursing bras until after that anyways.

No experience to share but I also have big boobs and would feel uncomfortable without a bra.  So I bought two of these nursing bras on sale at Macy's on my 8th month.  Like KK described, they are pullover like a sports bra but not as constrictive.

I didn't wear a bra while in the hospital...nor did I have any special gown...just wore the hospital gown...but it had special slits in front so that you could easily breastfeed...and then I wore my regular bra home...you will not need a nursing bra in the hospital.

I actually bought a couple of those sleep bras that DMN shared and I love them! The lady at the store suggested them because I've been getting stretch marks on my boobs after going up a whole size (funny I still don't even have any on my belly haha), so apparently sleeping with some support helps with that. And she also said they're good to wear when at the hospital cause they give you support but you don't feel constricted at all.

Definitely take anything to the hospital that you think will help you/keep your comfortable. IMO its better to be over prepared then unprepared ;)

Is it a dress you can lift up? If so they can give you a sheet to drape over your lady parts and you can lift your dress up. If not, you can ask for a gown and a sheet and put the gown on to cover your top 1/2 and the sheet for your legs :)

Yes, I can pull it up! I just hope they are equipped with a sheet (it is a private u/s place) otherwise, its gonna get real awkward :)

They should be! When I went to my 3d u/s they always put a sheet over my legs even though I had pants on just to protect my pants from getting the jelly stuff on them :)

Haha @Mar!  I'm sure she's dealt with worse! haha

My stupid question:

What side of the car do you put the carseat on?  Do you put it behind you or behind the passenger?

This thought just hit me and I was like, omg I have no idea! haha

Refer to your car's manual...you need to know where the LATCH is....middle is preferred if it fits...ours does not...so we have ours on the passenger side...as instructed when we had our seat inspected...also ales it easier to get baby out on curbside not streetside.

Okay, I have two stupid questions--one board-related and one pregnancy-related:

1)  What does Team Green mean?  I see ladies posting it, and while I think I know what it means, I'm not quite sure.

and

2)  Am I weird for hating the fact that I have to eat ALL THE TIME?!  I mean, I like food--it's quite evident by my plus-size body--but this being hungry every two or so hours makes me feel weird.  Today our school was doing state-mandated testing for four hours straight (and I wasn't getting a break from administering it until the last hour), and we tell the students not to have food or drink at their desk so they won't mess up their answer document.  Well, there I am, drinking water and munching on snacks every now and then...talk about feeling guilty!

Team Green means that you aren't finding out the sex of your baby :)

You definitely are NOT weird for eating often -I'm also "curvy" and ate pretty frequently, especially at the beginning of my pregnancy. I found that if I didn't eat, I would start feeling nauseous. I worked at a daycare centre so I never really had a "break" until lunch so I felt the same as you did, guilty about bringing in a few snacks and eating in front of the kids. I tried my best to eat healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables :)
