Success of Honeymoon Registries???

If you have used a honeymoon registry, I would love to know how receptive people were about buying gifts from it. Was it successful? How did you tell people about it? Any thoughts and/or comments would be appreciated.

We will be using a HM registry as well. I haven't heard many responses about them, but know many people are using them now. We just had a post on this a couple weeks ago- maybe check the past pages. We are telling people by word of mouth and through our wedding website. I'm just concerned with what company to actually use, like if they give the guest a certificate or something- so they feel like they really got us something, etc.

Which do you plan on using?

Our guests SEEM excited about the honeymoon registry (we are using honeyfund), but we haven't gotten any gifts from it yet (invitations went out two weeks ago, wedding is on May 31). So maybe they are not as excited about it as it seems? But in general, we haven't gotten many gifts (we have one more registry) so perhaps people are just slow to decide.

One thing I think is very important in creating a honeymoon registry is to be as specific as possible so that guests can have a clear idea of what they are getting you and how that will make your honeymoon special. For example, we have a gift that consists of tickets for the Borghese Gallery in Rome, or tickets to the Uffizi in Florence, or a night at Il Chiostro di Pienza in Pienza, and so forth, you get the picture. The idea is that guests know they gave you as a present "an unforgettable night at the 16th century palazzo Il Chiostro di Pienza in Pienza" thus making your honeymoon even more romantic :):):)

I am using Honeyfund as well! I got my first gift yesterday! Everyone seems to love it, they had questions about it at first, but then when
they started understanding they were like "This is so awesome!".

For those who are using honeyfund or another type of honeymoon registry, did you put a registry card in your invitation or how did you tell your guests about it?

I had it printed on the map at the bottom. "Bride and Groom are registered at www.honeyfund.com". It really is such a great idea for couples like us who have lived together for years and own everything already. =)

We put our two registries on our website. Plus, our relatives spread the word.

Thanks for the feedback girls. I am thinking of using honeyfund or travelers joy but haven't made my final decision yet. I just noticed that many of the sample registries they have, don't seem to have a lot of purchases on them. I'm hoping people will actually take to the idea and participate. I guess we'll see. Keep me posted as to how it seems to be working as your weddings get closer. Thanks.

we're using honeyfund also... i like that it goes to our paypal acct or the option for guests to send a check; the one thing that convinced us to use it though was we wre able to use our own travel agent (who i've been using for over 10 years and totally & completely trust)... some of the honeymoon registries require you to use their travel agens... i guess the most important advice i can give is to make sure you and fh can pay for the entire thing if guests choose to "gift you" in other ways or buy you a tangible gift ;)
