Suckling behavior?

Does anyone else have a dog that suckles on blankets? Our new one suckles on this really old fleece blanket we have on our couch and it is the weirdest behavior! I've looked it up and it's totally normal but I have never seen it! I just wish she picked a different blanket to do it on... FI isn't too happy it's on his favorite blanket!

I read they do that as a self-comforting behavior... think a child sucking on their pacifier. They said a lot of the animals that do that are ones that have been re-homed a lot in their younger years- which is true for us since our new dog is maybe 2ish and we are her 3rd home. I find the whole thing very interesting...

Yes, my brothers big ol' Weimeraner always suckels on either a pillow or blanket.  He definitely does it to comfort himself as he is an extremely anxious dog.  I was worried for a long time that he did it because he was taken away from his Mom too young, but they got him from a very reputable breeder and got him a few weeks late due to 9/11.  He just likes to sooth himself, I think it's kind of cute!
