SUNNYDBRIDE: NO BAKERIES : (

I was just sitting here craving a cupcake and I am so sad because there are no bakeries where I live. I can't get over it. How is there no bakery? So unfair! Someone please be kind to me and mail me cupcakes!!!!! My hubby's been away for work going on 2 weeks now and I could use a treat as a pick me up! : )

But seriously, how is there no bakery? I looked online and in the yellow pages and the one they say they have I drove past and it's like a sandwich shop or something. They say they do wedding cakes though. Seems a little weird too me. The place is like a Ritter's diner.

Seriously no bakery?? Maybe you should start a business plan and bring the first bakery to your town...goldmine if I do say so!

Aw, you're too kind!! I have been going through withdrawal. Back home, when I would want a cupcake, I'd stop in on any random Tuesday, Thursday, whenever. I was like wow, when I found out. I'm not super far from Hershey, PA and I'm sure they've got to have some up there. I'm just used to being able to make a 10 minute drive and having some delicious goodness!

What?! How can there be none?? That's criminal. I too would love to send you one but it might be a bit squished by the time it gets there too!

That seems... so wrong. :( Our nearest one is forever and a day away as well.

There's always the DIY method! :) It's what I tend to do when I want some. Never ends well, since I end up with a dozen instead of just the one I want. But a lot of grocery store bakeries are doing single servings as well.

Those look so tasty!!! Oops, excuse my drool! Lol! Maybe I should. I can make cupcakes but I'm not sure that they're shop worthy. Maybe I could practice seeing as how I have all this time on my hands right now (the job search is not going so well).

You know Carolinawedding, I just may have to do that. I don't mind having a dozen. It'll last me a week. Okay, so not that long but it's still a good idea! Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a cupcake/cake snob and the grocery store ones just don't taste quite like a bakery bakery. Kwim? I grew up on Prantl's bakery so it's my mom's fault! haha!

Oh, I understand!! The Publix ones (if you have one near you) are pretty good, though! Walmart is the "I need it and I need it now" but Publix is usually worth it. And they're a little lighter than the bakery I'm used to so I don't hate myself afterward.

I feel ya. I live in a little city in the middle of Missouri (aka... no where.) No bakeries. No delis even, except the ones inside the groceries. Isn't that ridiculous? I'm totally not used to this, growing up in NYC I had all kinds of choices, lol.

I remember Publix!!! I would go there sometimes when I lived in Decatur, GA. There are none up north, boo. Yep Cassie, all the choices were great. Makes me appreciate home all the more! I know Chances had posted about a place that delivered long distance. I'll have to remember what it was. Now that I'm about 2 hrs. from Philly, Baltimore/DC and Jersey, maybe they won't consider that too far to deliver? Fingers crossed!

Haha Sunny- I really doubt they're gonna deliver one cupcake more than 2 hours away... but its worth a shot!

I LOVE Publix cupcakes, actually. We don't have Publix here (big surprise) but we had them where i lived in FL and I would love to stop there for a sub or a cupcake- yummm!! If you have Publix, dooo it! And take pictures. And post them here.

No Publix here : ( We have Weis and Giant supermarkets. I don't like Giant so I usually only go there for redbox videos or if Weis is out of an ingredient I need.

As for ordering cupcakes, I'd definitely order a dozen!

I think you're thinking of DC Cupcakes? Well, that's not the name of the bakery but it's the show title they have! :) That's a start.

No bakeries is like no convenience stores!!! Don't they know that girls need cupcakes, cookies, etc.

You need a small batch dessert cookbook!  I have one, but I've never tried the recipes.  I'm just a cookbook junkie, so I can't resist an interesting cookbook.  They have tons of recipes for single or double serving desserts, though!

Sounds good Laura!!!

Thanks Carolina and Chances!!! Wow, it will cost me $65 to get a dozen cupcakes delivered this Saturday. But, me and DHs 3 month anniversary is Sunday and he's coming home that day after being away at training since August 9th. You see me trying to justify this, right? Please tell me I'm not crazy! : )

Argh no bakery!? I must admit that I make cupcakes when I want them though - could you do that? Or else do you have an upmarket supermarket in your area where you could buy luxury cupcakes? *hug*!!

I wish Pagegracie! No gourmet cupcakes at the grocery stores. I probably will start baking more. I do want something special for our 3 month wedding anni, especially since DH has been gone most of the month. Harrisburg is about a 45 minute drive, at least to the mall. It would be closer than going to Philly or Jersey or any of those places. I'll google and see what they have and I'll still check Hershey. The "sweetest place on Earth" HAS to have bakeries!
